PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bull Mfer (ranked 1094 p4p, 176 weight class) and Kazuma Kuwabara (ranked 1812 p4p, 278 weight class). Kuwabara has chosen Kazuma Kuwabara Theme as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Kazuma Kuwabara is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Bull Mfer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kazuma Kuwabara!
The judges for this bout are Topper Green, Bruno Hogan and Steve Erwin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kuwabara misses with a wild body shot.

letting Mfer counter with a right hand.
Mfer throws a leg kick that is checked
and Kuwabara counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Kuwabara fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Mfer manages to avoid it.
Kuwabara dives in for a single leg takedown but Mfer sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Mfer throws a looping overhand right but Kuwabara ducks down to avoid it.
Kuwabara throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Mfer stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Good exchange - Kuwabara coming out on top.
Kuwabara tests Mfer's chin there with a solid looking shot.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mfer fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Kuwabara manages to avoid it.
The fighters circle momentarily. Mfer darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Kuwabara lands an overhand right.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Kuwabara digs a good hook to Mfer's body.

Kuwabara closes the distance and lands a one-two.

Kazuma Kuwabara seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

We've been told by Mfer's head coaches at ~T~ Troid - Gym that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Mfer walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.

and Mfer counters with a low kick, right behind Kuwabara 's knee.
Kuwabara loads up on a big right hand but Mfer slips the punch.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Kuwabara displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Mfer throws out the jab.
Kuwabara is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Mfer rather than just go for the knockout.

Kuwabara throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Mfer.
Mfer takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Mfer takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.

Mfer looks to land a left hand but Kuwabara moved out of range nicely.
Bull Mfer is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Kuwabara scores with a one two! Mfer had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Kuwabara lands with a right hand.
Mfer throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Mfer looks to land a left hand but Kuwabara moved out of range nicely.
Kuwabara changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Horrible takedown attempt by Kuwabara or perhaps it was just good defense by Mfer, which made it look bad.
Mfer swings for the body but Kuwabara moves out of range.

and Kuwabara counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Kuwabara postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Mfer is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Kuwabara, into his guard.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Mfer wants to pass the guard but Kuwabara is keeping the position.

Kuwabara is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Mfer has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Kuwabara is proving hard to escape from.
Mfer slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Mfer continues to stall.
Mfer trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kazuma Kuwabara dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Kuwabara thuds his right hand into Mfer's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.

Mfer shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.

A jab from Mfer misses.
Kuwabara now looks to counter with a shot at the body.
Kuwabara misses with a few strikes there.
Mfer throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Mfer takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Mfer is looking to chop away at Kuwabara's legs.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Mfer drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.

Kuwabara closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Mfer's guard.
Kuwabara is fighting to break Mfer's control of his arms but Mfer is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Kuwabara drops back looking for a submission - "I'm sorry sir, but I'm gunna break your leg" says Kuwabara as he cranks on the unfortunate limb! Mfer screams and taps out before any major damage is done! Don't mess with Kuwabara! Nice submission victory there!
