Horrible takedown attempt by Santana or perhaps it was just good defense by Petrov, which made it look bad.
Santana darts in trying to clinch
and Petrov counters with a nice uppercut.
Petrov circles away from the clinch attempt
and Petrov counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Santana gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Petrov counters with a stiff right hand.
Santana is rocked!
Santana moves to clinch but Petrov breaks away
and Petrov counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Santana is still on wobbly legs! Can Petrov finish him?
Both fighters step back and shake their arms out. Petrov engages and cracks Santana with a massive lead left hook - Santana tumbles to the floor, out cold! What a shot! Petrov is delighted - all that hard work in training paid off!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:48 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Sergei Petrov!
Sergei Petrov spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
