Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Robert Hongo (ranked 5635 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jeremy Glenn (ranked 23980 p4p, 451 weight class). Robert Hongo has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Robert Hongo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jeremy Glenn!
The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Igor Prikhodko and Aleksandr Martynov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Glenn clinches with his opponent.
Glenn misses with a knee to the head.
Glenn tries to pull guard but Hongo holds him up against the cage and eventually Glenn drops back down to his feet.
Hongo blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Glenn lands a nice uppercut.

Hongo manages to break the clinch.
Glenn tries to clinch

and Hongo counters with a shoot takedown. Glenn fights it but they end up in guard.
Glenn throws some sloppy strikes off his back.

Glenn is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Hongo defends well.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Hongo enables Glenn to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Hongo manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Hongo has his feet on Glenn's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.

Glenn tries to clinch but Hongo moves out of range.
Glenn looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Glenn closes the distance and pushes Hongo back into the cage.

Glenn has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Hongo uses from the top position.
Glenn wants to get back to his feet but Hongo is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Hongo appears to be looking for a counter takedown.

and Hongo counters with a takedown into side control.
Glenn is trying to get back to half guard.
The referee asks Hongo politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Hongo prefers to stall for the moment though.

Glenn tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops.

Hongo is riding his opponent, not letting Glenn buck him off.
Hongo is not going to allow Glenn to sit and survive in this position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Glenn just trying to survive but Hongo is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Glenn doesn't manage to clinch there - Hongo circles away.
Glenn is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Hongo swats away the attempt to clinch by Glenn.

Hongo tries to keep at a distance but Glenn has taken the fight into the clinch.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Hongo is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Glenn gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Glenn tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Hongo's elbow.

Hongo changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Glenn fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Glenn misses with a kick to the body.
Hongo keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
A slapping body kick lands there for Glenn.

Glenn darts in and clinches Hongo up against the cage.

Hongo wants to take the fight to the mat but Glenn manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Robert Hongo. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Hongo prevents a body shot from Glenn.
Glenn creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.

Hongo drops down looking for a counter takedown but Glenn sprawls and moves away.

A left hand lands to the body for Glenn.
Glenn is defending well against a takedown attempt.
Hongo blocks the elbow strike.
Glenn looks to throw an elbow but misses.
Glenn has Hongo pushed against the cage.
Glenn tries a knee to the head but Hongo blocks it.
Glenn tries to pull guard but Hongo won't allow it.
Hongo tries for a takedown. No joy.

Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Glenn.

Hongo breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Glenn changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Hongo tries to avoid it but Glenn manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Hongo to the ground. Hongo escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Hongo changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Glenn wants to clinch.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Glenn throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Hongo's waist but Hongo gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Glenn off to one side.
Hongo appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
Glenn shoots in for a takedown but Hongo shows good takedown defense.
Hongo tries to counter with a takedown but Glenn is quick to defend against it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jeremy Glenn showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

Glenn is pressed up against the cage. Hongo has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Glenn down to the mat. Glenn avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Glenn closes the distance and clinches up with Hongo, looking for a takedown. Glenn pushes Hongo against the cage but Hongo circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Glenn using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Hongo has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

Glenn has picked Hongo up - he's going for a ride! Glenn dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.

Hongo kicks Glenn off and gets back to his feet.

and Hongo counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Glenn takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Hongo is stalling in the full guard.
Hongo postures up.

Hongo gets to his feet - Glenn follows without any prompting.
Glenn shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Hongo pinned against the cage. Hongo gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Robert Hongo has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jeremy Glenn.

Glenn wants to clinch up but Hongo keeps it at a distance.
Hongo changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Horrible takedown attempt by Glenn or perhaps it was just good defense by Hongo, which made it look bad.
Hongo feinted with a counter takedown.
Glenn tries to clinch there but Hongo circles away.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Glenn is defended easily by Hongo.

and Hongo decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Glenn's guard.

Robert Hongo showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Hongo has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
