PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Oleg Nemkov (ranked 17275 p4p, 659 weight class) and Victor Ulriksen (ranked 11863 p4p, 673 weight class). There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 19 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Oleg Nemkov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Victor Ulriksen!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Robert Twigg and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nemkov tests Ulriksen's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Ulriksen lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Nemkov slips a jab from Ulriksen.
Nemkov swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.

Ulriksen drives through with a takedown into guard.
Nemkov throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.

Nemkov looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Nemkov looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Ulriksen is in close to Nemkov's body, working some short punches and elbows.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ulriksen passes into half guard.
Nemkov wants to get back to full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ulriksen is trying to control. Nemkov wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Nemkov is defending against the submission attempts here by Ulriksen.

Nemkov tries to roll over but Ulriksen keeps him under control.

Ulriksen is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Ulriksen is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Nemkov has managed to free his arm - good work.

Ulriksen looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Nemkov with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Nemkov tries to roll over but Ulriksen keeps him under control.
Nemkov is trying to maintain the position but Ulriksen is very close to passing his half guard.

Ulriksen throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Ulriksen is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Nemkov doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Ulriksen.
Ulriksen sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Nemkov defending well though.
Ulriksen drops an elbow to the side of Nemkov's head.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Ulriksen thows a huge punch but Nemkov dodges it nicely.
Nemkov trying to keep hold of his opponent's head but Ulriksen manages to pass to mount!
Ulriksen can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Nemkov is looking to escape.
The referee warns Nemkov that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Nemkov is wriggling around trying to escape.
Ulriksen looking to control but Nemkov is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Ulriksen raining down shots from the mount!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Nemkov keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Ulriksen avoids the attempt from Nemkov to control.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The ground and pound from Ulriksen seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Nemkov manages to work his way to half guard, despite Ulriksen's best efforts.
Ulriksen has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Ulriksen wants to lay and pray for a moment but Nemkov keeps working.

Ulriksen is nestled in close to Nemkov, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Nemkov keeping hold of Ulriksen's head, controlling as best he can.
Ulriksen scores with a couple of good hammerfists.

Nemkov manages to get to full guard.

Nemkov is looking for a triangle but Ulriksen pushes his legs off easily.

Nemkov seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.

Nemkov is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Ulriksen is aware though and is defending well.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Nemkov utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Ulriksen throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Nemkov bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.

Ulriksen shoots in and bounces Nemkov off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Ulriksen cracks Nemkov with a solid left hand.

Nemkov looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Ulriksen wants to control from the top but Nemkov keeps moving.

Victor Ulriksen showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Ulriksen just misses with a punch to the body.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Ulriksen enables Nemkov to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Ulriksen manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Nemkov makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Ulriksen is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Nemkov pulls his head out easily.
Ulriksen is staying active underneath Nemkov, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Nemkov is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Still in half guard, Nemkov seems content to control.
Ulriksen has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Nemkov is working away from the top position though.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Oleg Nemkov has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Nemkov throws a sloppy head kick and Ulriksen moves out of range easily.
Nemkov shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Ulriksen as he avoids it easily.

Ulriksen closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Ulriksen lands in his opponent's guard.
Nemkov is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Ulriksen gets back to full guard.
Ulriksen not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Ulriksen has control of Nemkov's left arm, preventing Nemkov from doing any damage.

Nemkov throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Ulriksen works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Nemkov trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Ulriksen is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Nemkov is aware though and is defending well.
Nemkov won't allow Ulriksen to sweep him here.
Ulriksen is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Nemkov's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Nemkov keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Ulriksen's head.
Victor Ulriksen has got the better of the ground game so far.
Ulriksen is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Nemkov stands up over Ulriksen, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Nemkov wants to pass the guard but Ulriksen is keeping the position.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Nemkov's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Nemkov is fighting to break Ulriksen's control of his arms but Ulriksen is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

And that's the end of the fight!
Oleg Nemkov showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Ulriksen has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
