Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between James Penn (ranked 4887 p4p, 0 weight class) and Junior Dos Santos (ranked 4708 p4p, 0 weight class). Penn's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Everything in its right place. Junior Dos Santos has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
19 - 14 - 2, fighting out of Hilo, James Penn! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
13 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Junior Dos Santos! The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Albert Achterberg and Patrick Alders.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight. Dos Santos takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Dos Santos walks into a stiff left hand from Penn. Penn dives in and scores a takedown into Dos Santos's guard. Dos Santos striking off his back but it's not causing Penn any problems. Dos Santos looking for a sweep. Not yet Dos Santos, not yet. Dos Santos looking for a guillotine here but Penn defends easily.
Dos Santos has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Penn can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Penn landing some decent shots from guard. Penn pushing down on Dos Santos's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dos Santos is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Penn is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Penn takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Penn drops an elbow to the side of Dos Santos's head. Dos Santos on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Penn is controlling the pace.
Dos Santos is looking for a sweep. Penn is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Penn not doing much here.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Dos Santos looking for subs from the bottom but Penn mounts him! Dos Santos is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Penn postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Dos Santos looks a forlorn figure.
Penn content just to control the position here. Dos Santos is desperately trying to improve his position but Penn has a good base and remains in mount. Penn with shots to the head and body - Dos Santos looks very uncomfortable down there. Dos Santos really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Penn avoids the attempt from Dos Santos to control. Penn with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Dos Santos keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Penn takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Penn raining down shots from the mount!
It looks like Junior Dos Santos has been cut. Penn lands a big shot there that rocks Dos Santos but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Penn is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Dos Santos can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Dos Santos is controlling an arm, preventing Penn from taking his back. Although keeping him in mount is no better to be honest.
Penn content just to control the position here. Penn lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning. Penn controlling his opponent. Dos Santos is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Penn connects with a big shot to the side of Dos Santos's head.
Penn is working the ground and pound here and the referee is taking a close look at Dos Santos. He must escape soon or this one will be stopped. This has been an exciting period of action! Good control from Penn. Dos Santos tries to break free.
Penn has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Penn is looking to finish with some ground and pound! Penn looking for the choke but no joy. Dos Santos is covering up but some of the strikes from Penn are getting through and doing damage.
Penn working for a choke but Dos Santos is defending well. What can Dos Santos do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!

James Penn dominated that round. The cut man is working on Junior Dos Santos's cut. That's time! Back to the action!
Dos Santos doesn't succeed with the takedown and Penn counters with a low kick, right behind Dos Santos 's knee. Penn misses with a jab, cross combination.

Penn closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Penn lands in his opponent's guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dos Santos is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Dos Santos is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Penn defends well. Dos Santos can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Penn controls the pace. Penn drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Dos Santos dives on top into guard.
Penn escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Dos Santos gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Penn might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Dos Santos got a little sloppy there for a moment and Penn has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Dos Santos has managed to get both his arms back between Penn's legs - danger averted. Dos Santos is posturing up here but Penn has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Dos Santos tries to roll out but it's too tight and Dos Santos has to tap! Slick submission there by Penn!
