Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ron Burgundy (ranked 944 p4p, 149 weight class) and Connor MacLeod (ranked 556 p4p, 80 weight class). Ron Burgundy has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 57 - 22 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Ron Burgundy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Connor MacLeod!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, William Peck and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Burgundy looks to land a left hand but MacLeod moved out of range nicely.
MacLeod scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Burgundy jabbing away but nothing is landing.
MacLeod fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
MacLeod has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Burgundy keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Ron Burgundy seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
MacLeod throws a nice inside leg kick.

and MacLeod counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

That kick from MacLeod tenderised Burgundy's leg. Burgundy is trying to keep his angry face on.
MacLeod ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
MacLeod avoids the body shot from Burgundy.
MacLeod clobbers Burgundy with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
MacLeod feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Burgundy's calf.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Burgundy misses the shot to the body.
MacLeod connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Burgundy lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but MacLeod circles away quickly and effectively.

MacLeod shoots in looking for a takedown but Burgundy manages to keep the fight standing, pushing MacLeod's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Burgundy walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
MacLeod pivots, looking for a leg kick but Burgundy is out of range and MacLeod settles back down.

Burgundy misses with an uppercut. MacLeod saw that one coming.
MacLeod changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
MacLeod feints and then cracks Burgundy's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Burgundy down.
MacLeod tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Burgundy is able to avoid easily.
It looked like Burgundy wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
MacLeod defending well as Burgundy loads up on a big left hand.
Good leg kick by MacLeod there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Burgundy is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by MacLeod.
MacLeod bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

MacLeod is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

MacLeod not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Burgundy pushes MacLeod off looking to stand but MacLeod dives back in and keeps control.

MacLeod wants to advance to full mount but Burgundy doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.

MacLeod seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

and MacLeod counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Burgundy scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Burgundy throws a combination but it was largely blocked by MacLeod.
MacLeod throws a leg kick that misses.
MacLeod fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
MacLeod displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Burgundy throws out the jab.

Ron Burgundy is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Burgundy on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.

MacLeod gets a double leg takedown into Burgundy's guard.
MacLeod throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Burgundy works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
MacLeod stands up over Burgundy, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
MacLeod has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Burgundy is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Burgundy, as that shot connected.

and MacLeod decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Burgundy's guard.

Burgundy decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

MacLeod fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Burgundy.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

and Burgundy counters with a flying knee that drops MacLeod! Burgundy dives in and finishes the fight with a flurry of strikes from the mount!

Ron Burgundy very nearly forgot to thank Spartan Nutrition amongst all the excitement of his win but just as the interview came to a close, he screamed their name. Hopefully he'll get a few nice freebies in the mail as a thank you.
