Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between John Henry (ranked 1080 p4p, 116 weight class) and Brian Jones (ranked 1064 p4p, 113 weight class). Jones has chosen Take my hand as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nice uppercut lands for Henry. That snapped Jones's head back.
Henry misses with a straight left. Jones flicks out a counter leg kick but Henry steps away. Henry looks to throw the jab but Jones is out of range. Jones moves out of range as Henry strikes. Henry lands a right hook to the body.
Henry throws an overhand right that lands on Jones's shoulder, as Jones tries to avoid the shot. Henry pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Nice takedown defense from Henry. No joy for Jones on that attempt. Henry takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. Jones misses with a takedown and Henry counters with a stiff right hand. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Jones looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. John Henry has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Brian Jones. Henry ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Jones moves away. Jones moves forwards but Henry connects with a nice, crisp jab. Jones fails with the takedown. Henry gets caught flat footed, as Jones shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Henry is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control. Henry keeping moving, preventing Jones from controlling successfully. Henry has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Henry remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Henry has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Henry landing a few strikes. Henry looks up at the clock and then as Jones takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Henry smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Henry staying calm. Jones manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Henry scores with a hook to the body. Jones takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. Jones moves away from the strike by Henry. Henry ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Jones moves away. Henry pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Henry misses with a straight right. A slow jab from Henry misses its intended target. Jones throws a counter combo. Jones shoots in looking for a takedown but Henry manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Jones's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Henry stuffs the takedown attempt from Jones. Jones gets slowly back to his feet. John Henry is winning the standup battle so far. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Henry throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Henry lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook. Henry lunges at Jones with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Jones's hand.

Henry throws a lazy right hand but Jones sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Henry throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Jones on the side of the head. Jones avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Henry backing away here, and Jones unleashes a leg kick that just misses. John Henry is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Henry misses with a right hand and Jones counters with a left and a right that stings Henry. Jones keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Henry. Jones appeared to try and counter that last move with a leg kick. Jones shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Henry as he jumps to the side.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Jones takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

A little feinted left hand from Henry on the counter but he doesn't commit to it. Jones slips under a jab. Jones looks for a takedown but Henry sprawls well. Henry throws a jab when Jones was well out of range. Henry throws a looping overhand right but Jones ducks down to avoid it.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Henry throws a shot from downtown. Jones moves away and avoids it. Jones displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Henry throws out the jab. Jones fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Henry throws a hook but Jones blocks it. As Henry backs off Jones throws a huge counter combo but Henry manages to avoid it all. Henry misses with a hook. Jones ducked under it nicely. Henry keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Henry lands a nice hook to Jones's body. Jones takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. Jones avoids a lazy jab quite easily. And an attempted straight right on the counter from Jones! But no joy. Jones has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Henry finds it's way round the side to connect with Jones's head. A slow jab from Henry misses its intended target. Henry swings and misses with a shot to the body and Jones counters with a thumping low kick. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jones darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Jones is looking to stall here but Henry recovers full guard. Jones trying to control but Henry is working from the bottom. Jones looking to sit in guard and control but Henry gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Henry trying to control but Jones is working from the bottom. Henry has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Jones has momentary wrist control but Henry slips an elbow through the middle. Jones throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Henry escapes and throws Jones's legs to the side, diving into side control! Jones tries to get back to half guard but can't. Henry is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Jones will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Jones is looking to regain half guard here but Henry keeps moving and retains side control. Henry is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Jones can do to turn this around? Jones manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! Henry is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Jones's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Jones's back! Jones tries to break free.
Jones is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Jones covers up after taking a massive shot to the side of the head.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Brian Jones has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Henry is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.
