Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, John McGregor! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Bobby Lashley ! The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Viktor Lagutenko and Sergei Dronov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! McGregor clinches. McGregor jumps guard and drags Lashley to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. Lashley would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Lashley stands up from McGregor's guard - Lashley perhaps looking for a knockout. Lashley drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. McGregor bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet! The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Lashley lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected. McGregor bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Lashley throws McGregor to one side and escapes!
That's one minute gone in the round. McGregor pulls out of a head kick attempt.
McGregor dives in and scores a takedown into Lashley 's guard. Lashley is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. Lashley wants to stand but McGregor is controlling the position. McGregor preventing the sweep. McGregor trying to control the position from guard on top but Lashley is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's two minutes gone in the round. McGregor wants to pass the guard but Lashley is keeping the position. McGregor throwing strikes from guard but Lashley blocks nicely. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. McGregor looking to pass the guard.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. McGregor shoots in and gets a takedown into Lashley 's guard. Lashley is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst McGregor is controlling him. Lashley uses the cage to get back to his feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. McGregor throws a wild body kick that Lashley sees coming a mile off. McGregor fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Lashley , pushing him back against the cage. Lashley manages to break the clinch.
McGregor tries to sprawl but Lashley drives through with a takedown into half guard. McGregor scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Lashley manages to mount him!
McGregor is breathing heavily. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Lashley get's back to his feet. Lashley throws an uppercut from hell that sends McGregor clean off his feet! He's out cold! Lashley stands back and admires his work as he thinks about that KO of the night award that is surely being wrapped up for him back stage.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Bobby Lashley !
