Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Carlos Ruas (ranked 878 p4p, 100 weight class) and Jon Umber (ranked 344 p4p, 35 weight class). Umber has chosen Red Hot Chili Peppers - Aeroplane as his entrance music. Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
9 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Carlos Ruas! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jon Umber! The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Fedor Mirinova and Konstantin Menshow.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ruas tries to score a power double leg takedown but Umber sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Ruas somewhat. Ruas throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Umber's waist but Umber gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Ruas off to one side. Umber tries to work over Ruas's front leg with a kick but Ruas checks it. Umber throws a hook to the side of Ruas's head but Ruas sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Umber connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
It looks like Carlos Ruas has been cut. Ruas gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Umber counters with a stiff right hand. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Carlos Ruas. That's going to take a lot out of him. Ruas shoots in and drives through. Umber sprawls well. Umber now looks to counter with a shot at the body. Umber scores with a jab to the head.
Ruas tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Umber defends well and Ruas ends up having to push Umber into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Umber cracks the inside of Ruas's front leg. Umber throws a right and a left that both miss. Carlos Ruas seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Ruas fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Umber avoids it really well and circles away. It seemed like Umber was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it. Ruas looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Umber is fending him off so far but Ruas persists. Nope, Umber circles away and we're back to standing.
That's one minute gone in the round. A jab from Umber misses. Umber throws a hook but Ruas blocks it. Umber lands with a nice body punch. Umber tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Ruas was well out of range. Poor timing from Umber. Ruas shoots in for a takedown but Umber shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Ruas showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Umber.
Umber fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Ruas on the side of the head. Ruas shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Umber wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Ruas manages to pass to side control. Umber keeps control of the position for the meantime. Ruas trying to pass the guard but Umber defending well.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Umber is trying to stand.
Umber is doing well to control the position and prevent Ruas from advancing to side control. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Ruas is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Umber sees it coming and defends easily. Ruas is working for a submission of some sort.
Umber is trying to get back to full guard. Ruas is pressing down on Umber's thigh, looking to free his foot. Umber is holding on for now.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Umber is trying to stand.
Umber tries to get to full guard but Ruas has control of the leg. Umber wants to get back to his feet. Ruas wants to pass the guard but Umber is defending well. Umber has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Ruas is working away from the top position though. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Ruas tries to pass to full mount but Umber defends it. We've been hearing that Ruas has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish. Ruas trying to control from half guard but Umber is working away. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Nice sprawl there from Umber as Ruas shoots in. Ruas with a poor takedown and Umber counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Carlos Ruas's cut is getting worse. Ruas shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Umber sprawls well. Umber wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Ruas gets slowly back to his feet. Ruas shoots for a double leg takedown but Umber sprawls well. He's pushed Ruas's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. A swing and a miss from Umber. Ruas shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Umber as he jumps to the side. Ruas shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Umber as he jumps to the side. Umber connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe. Umber gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Umber is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Ruas dives into side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jon Umber dominated that round. The cut man is working on Carlos Ruas's cut. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Ruas shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. Umber is looking for a sweep. Ruas is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Ruas missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Umber has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Ruas content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. Ruas is trying to control the action in half guard but Umber is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Umber wants to improve his position but Ruas is controlling well.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Ruas trying to pass the guard but Umber defending well.
That's one minute gone in the round. Umber is refusing to be controlled, as Ruas sits in half guard. Ruas tries to pass to full mount but Umber defends it. Ruas is looking to take a break and control but Umber is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Umber tries to kick Ruas off but Ruas keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. Ruas wants to lay and pray for a moment but Umber keeps working.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Umber throws a right hand that Ruas ducks under and follows up with a left that Ruas also avoids with ease. Ruas misses with a takedown and Umber cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Jon Umber seems to be getting the better of the standup. Umber connects with a good right hand that stumbles Ruas. Ruas circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ruas closes the distance and clinches up with Umber, looking for a takedown. Ruas pushes Umber against the cage but Umber circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Ruas fails with a takedown attempt from distance. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Carlos Ruas. That's going to take a lot out of him. A solid leg kick lands there for Umber.
Umber throws a right and a left that both miss. Ruas tries to counter with a takedown but Umber is quick to defend against it. Umber uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook. Jon Umber is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Ruas shoots and misses and Umber counters with a nice body shot. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Umber jabs at Ruas's body. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! A slapping leg kick lands for Umber.

Ruas jabbing away but nothing is landing. Umber feints with a jab and clips Ruas right behind the ear with a massive overhand right! Ruas is sent crashing into the canvas and Umber leaps in for the kill! Ruas tries to get to his feet but Umber is just battering him from every conceivable angle. The ref decides that Ruas is in need of a savior and steps in!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:57 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jon Umber! During a confident post fight interview, Jon Umber thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him. Carlos Ruas was interviewed post fight and said 'No one likes seeing their opponent's hand raised, but that just means that they were the better man today. My team at 3Band MMA and I will break down this match and make the proper changes for my next camp.'.
