Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
32 - 22 - 0, fighting out of London, Guido Gloom! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
25 - 22 - 0, fighting out of London, Rudi Dassler! The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gloom gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Dassler has gone for a leg lock! Gloom slips out almost immediately though and dives into Dassler's guard.
Dassler looking for a guillotine here but Gloom defends easily.
Dassler is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Gloom is aware though and is defending well. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Gloom throwing strikes from guard but Dassler blocks nicely. Dassler is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Gloom has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage. Dassler looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Gloom has picked Dassler up and slammed him! Dassler can't keep hold of the triangle and Gloom manages to pass to side control! We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Gloom trying to control the action but Dassler is working from the bottom. Gloom lands some shots froms side control. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Dassler is looking for a sweep. Dassler is still trying to improve position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gloom working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter. Gloom is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Dassler is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Dassler is looking for a sweep. Gloom tries to advance to mount but can't. Gloom looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Gloom trying to control the action but Dassler is working from the bottom. Gloom has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Dassler is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Dassler felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it. Gloom working the ground and pound. Dassler is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Gloom throws a strike aimed at the side of Dassler's head but Dassler avoids it well.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Dassler tries to get back to half guard but can't. Dassler prevents Gloom from moving into mount. Dassler tries to bench press Gloom off him but Gloom keeps the position. Dassler is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Dassler keeps trying to improve his position. Gloom is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Dassler will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already. Dassler is not content to let Gloom control the position. Dassler tries to get back to half guard but can't. Gloom cracks Dassler with a big right hand but Dassler just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Dassler sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard. Gloom moves into side control, avoiding a weak kimura attempt from Dassler. Gloom is trying to get an arm triangle but Dassler is defending well. Gloom wants to control but Dassler is keeping him busy. Gloom is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Dassler knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Dassler tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Gloom wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Gloom in side control lands a decent elbow. Dassler is trying to get back to half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Gloom is trying to get an arm triangle but Dassler is defending well. Gloom thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Dassler sneaks back into half guard. Dassler punching from the bottom.
Dassler is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Gloom is trying to control the action in half guard but Dassler is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Gloom working the head and body with strikes. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Gloom thows a huge punch but Dassler dodges it nicely.

Dassler looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Gloom passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Dassler! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dassler closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Dassler lands in his opponent's guard. Dassler avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Dassler preventing the sweep. Dassler in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Dassler stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Gloom swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Dassler is thwarting Gloom's attempts to control the position. Dassler seems to be looking for submissions.
Gloom is trying to get back to full guard. Gloom moves into full guard.
Dassler is looking to work some ground and pound but Gloom has wrist control. Gloom is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Dassler can do to turn this around? Dassler stopping the sweep attempt from Gloom. Dassler working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Gloom lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard. Gloom stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Dassler swivels though and keeps the full guard. Dassler working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Gloom doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Gloom manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Gloom trying to control but Dassler is working from the bottom. Dassler working for a triangle but Gloom defends it easily.
Dassler is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Gloom is aware though and is defending well. Guido Gloom overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Dassler looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Dassler keeping moving, preventing Gloom from controlling successfully. Dassler has his foot on Gloom's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Gloom works his way back into a safe position though.

Dassler can't keep his opponent in guard - Gloom advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Gloom thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Gloom is pressing down on Dassler's thigh, looking to free his foot. Dassler is holding on for now. Gloom sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Dassler defending well though. Gloom trying to mount his opponent but Dassler defends it. Dassler looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Gloom looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Gloom is looking to take a break and control but Dassler is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Dassler tries to buck Gloom off but Gloom is having none of it. Gloom is working Dassler over with some ground and pound from side control. Gloom scoring with punches and elbows. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that Guido Gloom will probably get the nod. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!
Dassler avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Gloom fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Dassler on the side of the head. Dassler gets the takedown into side control. Dassler is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Gloom knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Dassler postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Dassler scores with punches from side control. Dassler tries to move to mount but Gloom blocks the move with his legs. Gloom manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! Dassler has hold of Gloom's hands but Gloom slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Dassler looking for submissions off his back.

Gloom missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Dassler is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Gloom pulls his head out easily. Dassler avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Gloom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Dassler throws a strike from the bottom that misses.

Dassler is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Gloom's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Gloom's back! Dassler is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Gloom knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Gloom for a finish. Gloom defends a prolonged rear naked choke attempt and turns nicely into his opponent's guard. Gloom wants to control from the top but Dassler keeps moving.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Dassler has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Gloom should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Dassler has tightened it up now! Gloom should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
