Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Josh Smyth (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dave McCreadie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Josh Smyth!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Dave McCreadie!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, Donald Grub and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smyth shoots for a double leg takedown but McCreadie sprawls well. He's pushed Smyth's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
McCreadie tries to clinch there but Smyth circles away.
Smyth keeps the fight on the outside.

Smyth shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Smyth looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
McCreadie wants to get back to full guard.
McCreadie is trying to maintain the position but Smyth is very close to passing his half guard.

Smyth is looking for a kimura here.

Smyth is sneakily working for an arm triangle but McCreadie sees it coming and defends easily.

Smyth is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Smyth is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
McCreadie is looking for a sweep. Smyth is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Smyth is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Smyth is breathing heavily.
McCreadie is trying to stand up here but Smyth is controlling him well.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Smyth closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming McCreadie to the mat! McCreadie manages to get full guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

McCreadie working for a triangle but Smyth defends it easily.

Smyth drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but McCreadie manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Smyth has McCreadie in his guard.

Smyth has his foot on McCreadie's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. McCreadie works his way back into a safe position though.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Smyth is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but McCreadie pulls his head out easily.

McCreadie moves into side control, avoiding a weak kimura attempt from Smyth.
McCreadie works to advance to full mount. Smyth defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Smyth regains half guard.
McCreadie is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Smyth!
McCreadie tries to control but Smyth wriggling away.
Smyth tries to reverse the position but McCreadie maintains control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Josh Smyth will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


McCreadie misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
McCreadie tries to close the distance and clinch up but Smyth swats him away and circles back towards the center.
McCreadie looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Smyth is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by McCreadie.

Smyth shoots in and bounces McCreadie off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Smyth thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
McCreadie will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

Smyth drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and McCreadie dives on top into guard.
McCreadie has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Smyth is proving hard to escape from.

Smyth had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. McCreadie is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Smyth Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take McCreadie's back instead.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Smyth looking for the choke but no joy.

Smyth is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.

McCreadie showing good submission defense here.
McCreadie is trying to get back to his feet but Smyth has full control of the position and if anything, McCreadie has just worked his way into a worse spot.
McCreadie is in a world of trouble here. He's outmatched on the ground here and he'd better get Smyth off his back sharpish unless he wants to be submitted.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Smyth doesn't have the hooks in and McCreadie manages to turn into his guard.
McCreadie advances position into side control!
Smyth is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on McCreadie's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

McCreadie takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

McCreadie is keen to just control but Smyth is a slippery customer.
Smyth tries to get to full guard but McCreadie has control of the leg.

McCreadie is pressing down on Smyth's thigh, looking to free his foot. Smyth is holding on for now.
McCreadie really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Smyth. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Smyth drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and McCreadie dives on top into guard.

Smyth is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! McCreadie is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! McCreadie has escaped and now he's on top!

Smyth has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but McCreadie can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
