PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jan Gryzbowski (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Bitnis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that John Bitnis was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bitnis pivots, looking for a leg kick but Gryzbowski is out of range and Bitnis settles back down.
Bitnis takes a kick to the body and keeps moving.
Bitnis showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Gryzbowski.
Bitnis falls off balance throwing a combination
and Gryzbowski counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Gryzbowski tries to bum rush Bitnis with a series of wild strikes but Bitnis uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Bitnis loads up on a big right hand but Gryzbowski slips the punch.
Gryzbowski throws a right and a left that Bitnis avoids nicely.
Gryzbowski clobbers Bitnis with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.


It looks like John Bitnis has been cut.

Bitnis doesn't manage to clinch there - Gryzbowski circles away.

Oooh a lovely combination from Gryzbowski sends Bitnis down but not out. Gryzbowski dives into side control looking to finish.
This has been an exciting period of action!
A lull in the action here as Gryzbowski stalls from top position.

Gryzbowski is trying to get back to his feet but Bitnis has full control of the position and if anything, Gryzbowski has just worked his way into a worse spot.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Bitnis wants to control the position but Gryzbowski frees himself and scrambles - Bitnis manages to regain control in side control.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Bitnis lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Gryzbowski circles away quickly and effectively.

Gryzbowski misses with a jab, cross combination.
Gryzbowski's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Gryzbowski duly obliges.


That has opened up John Bitnis's cut even more.
Jan Gryzbowski seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Gryzbowski throws a combination. Bitnis tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Gryzbowski is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.

Bitnis closes the distance and pushes Gryzbowski back into the cage.

Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Bitnis lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Gryzbowski has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Gryzbowski and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Bitnis throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Gryzbowski's waist but Gryzbowski gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Bitnis off to one side.

Bitnis looks to land a body kick but Gryzbowski moved away.

Bitnis shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Gryzbowski as he jumps to the side.
Jan Gryzbowski has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Bitnis.
Bitnis lands a head kick. Gryzbowski smiles back at him and beckons him forward.

Bitnis tries to work over Gryzbowski's front leg with a kick but Gryzbowski checks it.
Bitnis throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Gryzbowski bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Bitnis looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Gryzbowski tries a head kick but it misses.
Gryzbowski throws a hook to the side of Bitnis's head but Bitnis sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Bitnis tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.
No luck for Bitnis with that takedown attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Jan Gryzbowski will probably get the nod.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!


Gryzbowski lands a lovely overhand right.
Bitnis shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Gryzbowski pinned against the cage. Gryzbowski gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Gryzbowski connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Bitnis momentarily.
Gryzbowski throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Gryzbowski throws a series of punches but Bitnis avoids them all with ease.

so Bitnis counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Bitnis drops back for a leg here. A bit of a high risk move... He's looking for a kneebar by the looks of things. Now both of them are looking for submissions. Bitnis seems to have locked his on tight now - Gryzbowski screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for Bitnis, as he picks up the win!
