And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Lamont Banner !
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Frank Dennis and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Banner waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Armstrong.
Armstrong loads up on a big right hand but Banner slips the punch.

Banner clinches with his opponent.
Banner lands a right hand that snaps the head of Armstrong backwards.
A left hand lands to the body for Banner .
Armstrong is trying to pull guard but Banner turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Banner lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
Banner misses with the head strike.
Banner scores with a nice hook to the head.

Armstrong pulls guard.

Banner drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Banner jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Armstrong tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Banner paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Armstrong fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!

Banner forces Armstrong back against the cage and clinches.
Armstrong jumps guard but Banner stands there with Armstrong around his waist. Armstrong gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Armstrong is trying to pull guard but Banner has him pressed against the cage.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Henry Armstrong. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Armstrong wants to stand and escape but Banner is having none of it.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Banner has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Armstrong is landing a low percentage of strikes.

Armstrong got a little sloppy there for a moment and Banner has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Armstrong has managed to get both his arms back between Banner 's legs - danger averted.

Armstrong throws a strike but Banner rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Banner stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Armstrong swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground!
Banner won't allow Armstrong to get back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Lamont Banner dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Banner lands with a short shot to the head.

Banner has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Armstrong should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Banner has tightened it up now! Armstrong should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
