PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Seb Sha (ranked 853 p4p, 128 weight class) and Soul Jah (ranked 1656 p4p, 259 weight class). Jah has chosen Bob Marley - Buffalo Soldier as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Seb Sha!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 31 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Soul Jah!
The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Ryoma Takatsuka and Colin Fray.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jah misses with an uppercut. Sha saw that one coming.
It looked like Sha was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Jah.
Sha ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Jah misses with a head kick.
It looked like Sha was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Jah.
Sha misses with a series of wild punches.
Jah does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Jah swings for the body but Sha moves out of range.
Sha was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A jab lands there for Jah.
Jah misses with an attempted mid kick.
Sha lands a body shot.

Sha shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Jah manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Sha throws a big right hand that misses.
Jah looking to control.
Sha controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Sha sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Jah's guard.
Sha is looking to take a break and control but Jah is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Jah has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Sha is working away from the top position though.
Sha is looking to advance position but Jah won't allow it.
Jah wants to get back to full guard.
Sha lands strikes from half guard.

Sha is keen to just control but Jah is a slippery customer.
Sha is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sha drops an elbow to the side of Jah's head.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Sha connects with a nice short shot to Jah's temple.
Jah is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Sha is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Jah defends it well.
Sha prevents Jah from standing back up.
Sha looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Jah wants to get back to full guard.
Jah is not content to let Sha control the position.
Sha is really struggling to control Jah but he's trying to hold on to the position.

Sha tries to pass the half guard into mount. Jah knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
We've been hearing good reports from Sha's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Sha lands with a punch from half guard.
Sha looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Jah seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Jah manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Sha manages to get himself to full guard.


Sha has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Jah can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Sha escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Jah gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Sha is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Seb Sha dominated that round.
That's time! Sha's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Sha shoots in looking for a takedown but Jah manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Sha's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Sha moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
Sha looks to throw the jab but Jah is out of range.
Sha connects with a body shot.
Sha moves out of range of the leg kick from Jah.
Donk. Jah catches Sha right on the button with a cross.

Jah fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Sha manages to avoid it.
Sha keeps Jah at a distance using the push kick.

Sha lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Jah circles away quickly and effectively.
Jah moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Donk. Sha catches Jah right on the button with a cross.
Jah looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Sha throwing a counter right hand but Jah manages to avoid it.
Sha misses with a body shot.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Jah! But no joy.

and Sha counters with a single leg into guard. Jah didn't expect that.
Jah is wriggling around but Sha manages to pass to half guard.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Jah is trying to maintain the position but Sha is very close to passing his half guard.
Sha scores with a couple of good hammerfists.

Sha is trying to control the action in half guard but Jah is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Jah moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Sha is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Seb Sha overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Jah bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Sha's guard.


Sha is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Jah must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Jah wants to control from the top but Sha keeps moving.
Sha lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Ouch! a nice leg kick from Jah, right into the meat.

Sha throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Sha is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Jah can do to turn this around?
Jah bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Sha's head.
Jah looks to land a left hand but Sha moved out of range nicely.
Jah tries a low kick but Sha avoids it.
Sha seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
Sha scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
A jab lands there for Jah.

Sha scores with the left hand. Jah knows he should have avoided that one.
Sha ducks under a wild hook from Jah.

Sha gets the takedown into side control.
Soul Jah has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Sha moves into full mount!
Jah regains half guard.
Sha seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Jah does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Seb Sha is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Sha is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Seb Sha showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Sha has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

A relieved looking Seb Sha thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
Soul Jah was interviewed post fight and said 'Dude tried to bite my dick off! Unreal man!'.
