PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jack Hammer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Freddie Mcloud (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mcloud has chosen Llama song as his entrance music. Jack Hammer looks tired to me. Hopefully he has got enough gas left in the tank to put in a good performance.

The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Andrew Berry and James Glass.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mcloud looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Hammer is fending him off so far but Mcloud persists. Nope, Hammer circles away and we're back to standing.
Mcloud throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Hammer closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Mcloud is trying to control Hammer's posture but Hammer avoids it.
Hammer wants to stand but Mcloud has his arm trapped.
Mcloud sneaks back into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mcloud trying to hold on to Hammer's head to control him but Hammer postures up.

Mcloud has one foot on Hammer's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
Mcloud throws a head kick but Hammer moves out of range.
Mcloud shoots in for a takedown but Hammer shows good takedown defense.

Mcloud rushes Hammer and presses him up against the cage.
Mcloud tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Hammer smiles and moves away.

Mcloud looks to land a combination but Hammer avoids it well.
Mcloud tries a head kick but it misses.

Hammer closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Hammer lands in his opponent's guard.
Mcloud tries to land a sweep but no joy.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hammer prevents Mcloud from getting back to his feet.

Mcloud is looking for a triangle but Hammer pushes his legs off easily.

Hammer would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Hammer is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Mcloud looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Hammer puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Hammer content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Hammer's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Mcloud scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
No luck for Mcloud with that takedown attempt.

and Hammer makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Hammer swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Mcloud throws a head kick that misses.
Mcloud shoots and misses
and Hammer counters with a low kick, right behind Mcloud 's knee.

Mcloud is breathing heavily.
A combination from Mcloud does no damage.
Mcloud tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Hammer counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Hammer throws a right and a left that both miss.
Hammer tries to clinch up.
Mcloud tries to clinch but fails miserably
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Hammer throws a series of punches but Mcloud moves out of range.

and Hammer counters with a nice double leg into side control. Mcloud won't be happy with that.

Hammer decides to stand back up. Hammer steps back and let's Mcloud get back to his feet.

Hammer shoots for a double leg takedown but Mcloud sprawls well. He's pushed Hammer's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Mcloud tries to clinch
and Hammer counters with a thumping low kick.
Hammer shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Mcloud pinned against the cage. Mcloud gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Mcloud throws the left hand but Hammer avoids the punch easily.

Mcloud jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Hammer walks away with a smile on his face. Mcloud gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Mcloud gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Hammer counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Hammer postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Hammer passes Mcloud's left leg - he's now in half guard.

and Hammer counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Mcloud!
Mcloud is trying desperately to improve position.
Mcloud wants to hold on but Hammer pushes him away.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Hammer misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Mcloud is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

and Hammer counters with a shoot takedown. Mcloud fights it but they end up in guard.

It's got to the stage where if one of these guys blows hard enough, the other might fall over.

Mcloud is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Hammer's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Hammer's back!

Hammer is taking a breather. Mcloud says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Mcloud is on top in guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Hammer had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Mcloud is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Hammer Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Mcloud's back instead.
Hammer slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.
