The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gilyard takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Alacantara uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Gilyard.
Alacantara now looks to counter with a shot at the body.
Gilyard lands with an uppercut that bounces Alacantara off the cage and back into range.
Alacantara misses with a lunging right hand
and Gilyard connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

It looks like Aric Alacantara has been cut.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Gilyard clobbers Alacantara with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

Alacantara is trying to break the clinch but Gilyard is controlling him.

Gilyard feints a jab promting Alacantara to slip. Gilyard then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Alacantara slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.

Gilyard sees an opening and throws a straight punch right through Alacantara's defenses. It connects perfectly with Alacantara's jaw and knocks him out cold! Wow - that's a contender for knockout of the year - absolutely brutal!
