Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chief Slayer! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Lukas Terryn! The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Chad Campbell and Alyssa Summers.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Terryn closes the distance and lands a one-two. Slayer shoots in for a takedown but Terryn shows good takedown defense. Terryn throws out a counter right but Slayer avoids it with no problem. Slayer pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Slayer paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button. Slayer falls off balance throwing a combination
and Terryn counters with a straight punch to the midsection. Chief Slayer seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Terryn gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there. A punch lands to the side of Slayer 's head but he takes it in his stride. Terryn scores with a punch to the head. Terryn thumps Slayer with a low kick. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Terryn keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Terryn has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Slayer finds it's way round the side to connect with Terryn's head. Terryn avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Slayer misses with a hook to the body
and Terryn counters with a lovely straight right hand! Slayer pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Terryn is looking to slow Slayer down with leg kicks. Slayer misses with an uppercut. Slayer throws an off balance right hand
and Terryn counters with a straight right hand. Slayer misses with a hook
and Terryn counters with a nice uppercut. Terryn moves out of range of the strikes. It seemed like Terryn was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Terryn throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Slayer throws a sloppy head kick and Terryn moves out of range easily. Slayer closes the distance but Terryn moves to the side and Terryn connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Slayer lands a head kick. Terryn smiles back at him and beckons him forward. A left lands for Slayer.
Terryn is rocked! Terryn scores with a jab. Terryn is still on wobbly legs! Can Slayer finish him? Terryn will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Slayer shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Terryn is trying to defend but Slayer finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. This has been an exciting period of action! Slayer is working for a kimura but Terryn is defending it quite comfortably.
Slayer seems to be trying to get a kimura but instead Terryn has recovered full guard. Terryn seems to have recovered his senses. Slayer drops back, looking for a kneebar! Terryn looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Terryn looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Terryn!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Slayer manages to get back to half guard. Terryn really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Slayer. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Slayer tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Terryn has advanced to mount. Uh oh. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Slayer is in all sorts of trouble here.
Terryn is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet! Slayer throws a nice looking combination but Terryn bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Slayer misses with an uppercut
and Terryn counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Slayer throws a jab but it's blocked by Terryn. Terryn looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it. Terryn connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head. Slayer has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Slayer there as he acknowledges the shot.
That's three minutes gone in the round. A telegraphed right hand from Slayer misses the target. Slayer misses with a straight right. Slayer misses with an uppercut
and Terryn counters with an inside leg kick. Slayer misses with a left hand and Terryn cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Slayer misses with a double jab.
Terryn scores with a punch to the head. Slayer walks into a stiff left hand from Terryn. Slayer throws a sloppy body shot
and Terryn counters with a stiff right hand. Slayer misses with an uppercut
and Terryn counters with a straight right hand. Terryn connects with a looping right hand.
Nice cross by Terryn. Terryn has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Slayer ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Terryn moves away. Slayer feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Slayer trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Terryn manages to land a sweep and now he's on top! Slayer trying to keep a closed guard but Terryn is proving a slippery customer.
Slayer looking for a guillotine here but Terryn defends easily.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Slayer pushes a forearm under Terryn's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Terryn is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
