Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Saku Takashi (ranked 2880 p4p, 355 weight class) and Alex Marida (ranked 4428 p4p, 491 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Saku Takashi! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Alex Marida! The judges for this bout are George Francis, Chris Downing and Cecil Peabody.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Marida throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Takashi was covering up waiting for the punch and Marida finishes the takedown easily into guard. Takashi looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it. Takashi bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Marida's guard. Takashi is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Takashi is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Marida is looking to stand back up but Takashi counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Marida. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Still in half guard, Takashi seems content to control. Takashi stops Marida from getting back to his feet.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Marida can do anything to dispel that myth. Takashi takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Marida blocking the ground and pound attempt from Takashi. Takashi lands strikes from half guard. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Takashi connects with a nice short shot to Marida's temple. Takashi content to control rather than advance. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Marida is trying to stand.

Takashi has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Takashi seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Takashi misses with a takedown attempt - Marida sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Takashi doesn't succeed with the takedown and Marida counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Marida is fighting to break Takashi's control of his arms but Takashi is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Marida accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Takashi is on top in guard.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Takashi's corner is telling him to maintain position. Takashi seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Marida for as long as he can get away with.

He's almost out here... but no, Takashi gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control. Marida on the wrong end of some ground and pound. Marida is letting Takashi control him for a moment. The strikes coming from Takashi are missing the target in this wave of attacks. Marida is trying to escape and get back to his feet. Takashi works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head. Marida really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Takashi. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Takashi lands a few punches from side control. Takashi prevents Marida from escaping the position. Takashi controlling the position. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Takashi lands a nice forearm strike. Marida controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage. Takashi lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Marida down.

And that's the end of the fight! Saku Takashi showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Takashi, winning every round. Will the judges agree?
