The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A solid body kick from Howard.
Andeweg shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Howard as he avoids it easily.
Howard looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Still in half guard, Howard seems content to control.
Howard trying to control from Andeweg's half guard. Andeweg has other ideas though and has regained full guard.
Howard gets to his feet - Andeweg follows without any prompting.

Howard is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Howard wanted to stand there but Andeweg had control of the position.

Howard slips a jab and a cross from Andeweg.
Andeweg gets caught flat footed, as Howard shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Andeweg tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Andeweg is breathing heavily.
Howard decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Andeweg, up you get!
Howard walks into a straight right hand from Andeweg.
Howard darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Howard wants to control but Andeweg is keeping him busy.

Andeweg tries to kick Howard off but Howard keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Howard gets to his feet. Andeweg looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Howard feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Howard decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Andeweg, up you get!

and Howard counters with a nice leg kick.

and Howard counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Andeweg is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Howard pulls his head out easily.
Howard looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Howard stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Howard circles away from the clinch attempt.
Howard bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Howard stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Aaron Howard seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Howard wants to clinch up but Andeweg keeps it at a distance.
Andeweg throws out a loose jab but Howard uses good head movement to avoid it.
Howard moves into range and clinches up with Andeweg.
Howard's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
Howard misses with a hook from the clinch.
Howard drags the fight down to the ground.
Andeweg thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Howard is trying to control the position but Andeweg postures up.

Howard wants to sweep here but Andeweg controlling him for the moment.
Howard scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Andeweg misses with a body kick.
Howard has a takedown stuffed.

Andeweg has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Howard avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Howard breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Howard moves into the clinch successfully.
Howard has hold of one of Andeweg's legs. Andeweg is fighting the takedown attempt but Howard gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage!

Howard has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Andeweg to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Howard is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Andeweg pulls down on the head and he's put Howard to sleep! This one is all over!
