Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Maximo Ruiz (ranked 5510 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ryan Alexander (ranked 22237 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Maximo Ruiz! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ryan Alexander! The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Damien Edna and Skip Squint.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ruiz misses with the combination.
Ruiz misses with a leg kick. Alexander misses with a head kick.
That kick from Alexander tenderised Ruiz's leg. Ruiz is trying to keep his angry face on. Ryan Alexander seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Alexander shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Ruiz pinned against the cage. Ruiz gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Ruiz will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Alexander is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Ruiz gets tackled into the cage by Alexander. Alexander maintains the clinch. Alexander landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.
Alexander pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Ruiz moves into the clinch successfully.
That's one minute gone in the round. Alexander successfully pulls guard.
Alexander throws his legs up looking for a submission but Ruiz uses it to pass to side control.
Ruiz trying to control the action but Alexander is working from the bottom. Ruiz wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Alexander, who protects the arm well. Alexander struggling a bit here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Alexander is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Ruiz is one step ahead and moves to full mount! Ruiz wants to control but instead Alexander manages to regain half guard. Alexander moves into full guard.
Alexander is controlling Ruiz's posture. Ruiz would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ruiz showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Alexander is adopting a defensive guard. Ruiz has gone for a leg lock! Alexander slips out almost immediately though and dives into Ruiz's guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Alexander looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Alexander trying to control the position from guard on top but Ruiz is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Alexander stands up from Ruiz's guard - Alexander perhaps looking for a knockout. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Ryan Alexander dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Alexander changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Ruiz tries to avoid it but Alexander manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Ruiz to the ground. Ruiz escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Ruiz lands a leg kick that knocks Alexander off balance momentarily. Alexander clinches with his opponent.
Ruiz changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Alexander fights it off and pushes away nicely.
An inside leg kick lands from Ruiz. Alexander rushes Ruiz and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Alexander wants a takedown but no success here.
Ruiz wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Alexander is trying to pull guard but Ruiz turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch. Maximo Ruiz has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ryan Alexander. Alexander lands with a short shot to the head.

Ruiz decides to pull guard. Alexander preventing the sweep. Ruiz is trying to control the position from the bottom.

No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Ruiz working a defensive guard here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Alexander wants to control from the top but Ruiz keeps moving. Ruiz throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Ruiz tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Alexander swivels and escapes. Ruiz tries a head kick but it misses.
Alexander gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Alexander tries for a takedown. No joy.
Alexander drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Ruiz gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Alexander has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Ruiz after a bit of a struggle.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Alexander jumps guard but Ruiz stands there with Alexander around his waist. Alexander gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
A head punch on the inside from Alexander fails to land. Ruiz being controlled against the cage. Ruiz stops a takedown attempt from Alexander.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Alexander tries for a takedown. No joy.
Ruiz tries to pull guard but Alexander holds him up against the cage and eventually Ruiz drops back down to his feet.
Alexander wants to take the fight to the mat but Ruiz manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch. Alexander is breathing heavily. Alexander breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Alexander tries to score a power double leg takedown but Ruiz sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Alexander somewhat. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Ruiz goes for a spinning back kick but it misses. Ruiz tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Alexander is able to avoid easily. Ruiz looking to score a takedown here. Alexander is defending well but Ruiz drives through and ends up in Alexander's guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that Maximo Ruiz will probably get the nod. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!
Alexander shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Ruiz as he jumps to the side. Alexander stuffs the takedown. Alexander is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch. Alexander moves into the clinch. Alexander drops down looking for an ankle pick but Ruiz pulls his leg out and moves away.
Ruiz shoots in for a takedown but Alexander shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Alexander will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. As Alexander looks to move away, Ruiz throws a big counter combo but Alexander just gets out of the way. Maximo Ruiz has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ryan Alexander. Ruiz moves into the clinch. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Alexander escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

That's one minute gone in the round. Ruiz jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Alexander walks away with a smile on his face. Ruiz gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Nice body kick there by Ruiz. Alexander throws a right hand that Ruiz ducks under and follows up with a left that Ruiz also avoids with ease. Alexander takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Alexander keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Alexander shoots for a double leg takedown but Ruiz sprawls well. He's pushed Alexander's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Ruiz shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Alexander defends it nicely. Ruiz takes the fight into the clinch.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Alexander trying to stall but Ruiz improves his position.
Ruiz tries to score a body lock takedown but Alexander shows good agility there to stay on his feet. Ruiz looking for a takedown. Alexander manages to break the clinch.
Alexander tries for a takedown but Ruiz circles away easily and Ruiz counters with a left and a right that stings Alexander. Ruiz closes the distance and clinches. Ruiz tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Alexander just stands there and leans against the cage.

Ruiz throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Alexander counters with a straight right hand. Alexander clinches. Ruiz tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Alexander's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Ruiz connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there. Alexander gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Ruiz counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Alexander fails with a takedown attempt. No luck with that takedown attempt from Ruiz. Alexander wants to counter the offense by Ruiz and move into the clinch position. Ruiz misses with a head kick.
Ruiz shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Alexander tries to sprawl but Ruiz drives through with a takedown into half guard. This has been an exciting period of action! Ruiz is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Alexander defends it well. Alexander wants to get back to his feet.
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Ryan Alexander. I think Alexander has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
