Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
14 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jake Butler! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
12 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tyson Cobb! The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Igor Prikhodko and Dmitry Maklakov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cobb misses with an uppercut. Butler saw that one coming. The fight stays on the outside here - Butler looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Cobb swats away the attempt to clinch by Butler. Cobb fakes a jab and scores with a low kick. Tyson Cobb seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Butler darts in looking for a takedown but Cobb gets double underhooks and turns Butler into the cage. Cobb stuffs the takedown. Cobb fakes a jab and scores with a low kick. Butler doesn't manage to clinch there - Cobb circles away.
Butler shoots in for a takedown and gets it. We've been hearing that Butler has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish. Butler throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Butler with the ground and pound but Cobb uses the opportunity to regain guard. Butler throws a big right hand that misses. Cobb is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Butler is controlling him. Butler missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Butler throws a strike but Cobb rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Butler is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Butler wants to control but Cobb is keeping him busy. Butler is looking to advance position but Cobb won't allow it. Cobb felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it. Butler throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Cobb kicks Butler off and gets back to his feet. Butler tries to close the distance and clinch up but Cobb swats him away and circles back towards the center. Cobb keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jake Butler. That's going to take a lot out of him. Butler rushes Cobb and presses him up against the cage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Butler is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Cobb pulls him back up using the underhooks. Butler has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Cobb is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Cobb stops a takedown attempt from Butler.
Cobb breaks from the clinch.
Cobb loads up on a big right hand but Butler slips the punch. Cobb cracks Butler with an uppercut from hell and Butler crumples to the canvas, he's out! Oh no, he's recovered and he's grabbed one of Cobb's legs and pulled him into guard. The ref thought about stopping it there but he's let it go - good reffing!
It looks like Jake Butler has been cut. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Cobb stopping the sweep attempt from Butler. Butler wants to improve his position but instead Cobb has moved into half guard.
Cobb escapes and gets back to his feet. Cobb stuffs the takedown. Cobb waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Butler. As Cobb tries to get set, Butler tries to push him back and clinch up but Cobb manages to avoid the attempt. Cobb throws a hook but Butler blocks it. Butler tries to counter with a takedown but Cobb is quick to defend against it. Cobb misses with a straight left. Butler fails in his attempt to clinch. Cobb moves into range and throws a big uppercut. OH! Butler goes down! Can Cobb finish him!?

Butler with the ground and pound but Cobb uses the opportunity to regain guard. Butler trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Butler throws a big elbow that misses. Butler is looking to work some ground and pound but Cobb has wrist control. Cobb preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Butler trying to control the position from guard on top but Cobb is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Butler stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Cobb swivels though and keeps the full guard. Butler is working hard here to advance position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Butler trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Cobb manages to land a sweep and now he's on top! Butler looking for a sweep. Not yet Butler, not yet. Butler is looking for a triangle but Cobb pushes his legs off easily.

Cobb won't allow Butler to sweep him here. Butler has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Cobb is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Butler. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Tyson Cobb dominated that round. The cut man is working on Jake Butler's cut. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Cobb throws a leg kick which misses Butler's front leg but catches the back leg as Butler tries to avoid it. Cobb throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Tyson Cobb seems to be getting the better of the standup. Butler shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Cobb as he avoids it easily. Cobb throws a big overhand right that connects, sending Butler tumbling to the canvas! Tyson Cobb has got the better of the ground game so far. Cobb gets to his feet - Butler follows without any prompting. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Cobb throws a jab when Butler was well out of range. Butler moves in looking to clinch but Cobb pushes him off. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Butler. Cobb connects with a solid leg kick. Cobb keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jake Butler. That's going to take a lot out of him. Cobb lands a right hook to the body.

That's one minute gone in the round. Cobb pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Cobb throws a hook to the side of Butler's head but Butler sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Cobb has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Cobb drops his shoulder and cracks Butler with a huge uppercut! Butler goes down! Can Cobb finish him?
Butler is rocked! Cobb won't allow Butler to sweep him here. Oh Butler is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Butler working for a triangle but Cobb defends it easily.
Cobb stands up and waves to Butler to follow him. Cobb wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. Butler seems to have got his legs back now. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Cobb closes the distance and lands a brutal uppercut that knocks Butler out! We're looking at the replay now - he was out before he hit the floor!
