Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Carey Blevins (ranked 5204 p4p, 0 weight class) and Luana Pio Vanne (ranked 7238 p4p, 0 weight class). Luana Pio Vanne will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Daniel Cesar and Thiago Cunha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pio Vanne misses with a head kick.
Blevins throws a nice looking combination but Pio Vanne bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

and Blevins decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Pio Vanne's guard.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Blevins is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Pio Vanne is just riding it out for now. Blevins eventually gives up the hold.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Blevins shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Pio Vanne's guard.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Blevins rushes Pio Vanne and presses him up against the cage.

Blevins is fighting off a takedown attempt but Pio Vanne is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Blevins to the mat. Blevins regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Blevins is looking to stand up but Pio Vanne isn't so interested in that idea.

The fight stays on the outside here - Blevins looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
As Blevins backs off Pio Vanne throws a huge counter combo but Blevins manages to avoid it all.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
