Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Musta Laine (ranked 64 p4p, 14 weight class) and Dao Sonnen (ranked 55 p4p, 11 weight class). Laine comes to the cage accompanied by Disturbed - Sound of Silence. Sonnen comes into a darkened arena with his song building. The Devil's Doorbell kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
31 - 14 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Musta Laine!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

28 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Dao Sonnen!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Phil Schofield and Daniel Bishop.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Laine scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
It looks like Dao Sonnen has been cut.
Laine lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Laine throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Sonnen swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Laine misses with a looping left.
Sonnen shoots in but Laine avoids the takedown attempt easily.
A left lands for Sonnen.
Laine fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Sonnen's jab looks to have found its range, popping Laine under the eye.
A slow jab from Laine misses its intended target.
Laine throws a leg kick which misses Sonnen's front leg but catches the back leg as Sonnen tries to avoid it.
Laine throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Sonnen looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.

Laine manages to work his way to half guard, despite Sonnen's best efforts.
Sonnen looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Sonnen uses his free foot to push down on Laine's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Laine.

That was a close round but I would say that Musta Laine will probably get the nod.

Sonnen uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Laine.
Laine seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.
Sonnen tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.

Laine was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Sonnen has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.

and Sonnen counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Sonnen catches Laine with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Sonnen throws a body shot but no joy.
Laine rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Sonnen counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Good leg kick by Sonnen there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Laine finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
A kick lands to the mid section there for Laine.
Sonnen lands with a good body shot.
Laine does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Sonnen doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Sonnen swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Laine.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Laine shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Sonnen's guard.

Sonnen drops back for a leg here. A bit of a high risk move... He's looking for a kneebar by the looks of things. Now both of them are looking for submissions. Sonnen seems to have locked his on tight now - Laine screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for Sonnen, as he picks up the win!

As Dao Sonnen got his breath back, he grabbed the microphone and managed to blurt out the following: I came down to this division to have some fun. It's the hardest division in the toughest org! I'm comin' for you (pay)Cheque!! Mentor said you can go to 205lb for an instant title fight, but I said no. I'm taking the 170lb. Our camp's had a vendetta with Laine. Compliments of Lao Shin and Shaman bud'.
