PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Lugeater Tyson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rockstar Randy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Randy has chosen High as his entrance music. Rockstar Randy told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Lugeater Tyson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Rockstar Randy!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, William Gold and Daniel Bishop.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Tyson shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Randy pushes Tyson off but Tyson dives into side control.
Randy is looking for a sweep.
Tyson tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.

Tyson wants to lay and pray for a moment but Randy keeps working.
Randy struggling a bit here.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Randy feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Tyson has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Randy off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Tyson shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Randy's guard.

Randy has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Tyson can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Tyson gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Tyson gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Randy decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Tyson's guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Randy passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Randy looks up at the clock and then as Tyson takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Randy smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Tyson is staying active underneath Randy, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Randy wants to work for an arm triangle but Tyson is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Tyson is trying to control but can't.

Tyson wants to get back to full guard.
Tyson is holding on to half guard well.
Randy is looking to take a break and control but Tyson is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Tyson really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Randy is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Randy gets a clinch.
Tyson tries to pull guard but Randy won't allow it.
Tyson wants to break free but Randy has control.
Tyson can't find room to land a body shot as Randy controls the action.
Tyson tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Randy smiles and moves away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Lugeater Tyson. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Randy is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Tyson trying to control the pace.
Randy flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Tyson drops an elbow to the side of Randy's head.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Randy won't allow Tyson to pass to mount.

Tyson is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Randy has a hand on Tyson's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Tyson takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Lugeater Tyson will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Randy shoots in and bounces Tyson off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Tyson pulls Randy in close to prevent any damage.
Lugeater Tyson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Tyson is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Tyson pulls Randy in close to prevent any damage.

Randy must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Tyson is really struggling to control Randy but he's trying to hold on to the position.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

You can see the frustration on Tyson's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Tyson bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!

and Randy counters with a stiff right hand.
Tyson circles away from the clinch attempt
and Tyson counters with a series of strikes. Randy will be more careful next time no doubt.

Tyson changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Randy looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Tyson stands up and we're back to a striking position.
This has been an exciting period of action!
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Tyson.
Randy lands a front kick.
Randy buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.

Tyson closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Tyson lands in his opponent's guard.

Tyson is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Tyson is nestled in close to Randy, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Tyson is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Randy defends it well.
Tyson is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Randy is trying to maintain the position but Tyson is very close to passing his half guard.

Randy shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Randy wants to stand but Tyson is controlling his posture from full guard.

Tyson throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
Randy stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Tyson swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Randy looking to sit in guard and control but Tyson gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Tyson lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Randy down.

Tyson tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Tyson has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Tyson is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Randy knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Randy tries to improve position but can't.

Randy is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Randy manages to work his way to half guard, despite Tyson's best efforts.
Randy is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Randy wants to control but Tyson is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Tyson stands up and beckons Randy to join him on the feet.

so Tyson counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Tyson avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Randy wants to sweep here but Tyson controlling him for the moment.
Tyson not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.

Tyson's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Lugeater Tyson showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Tyson, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
