Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.

The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Ian Loll and Robert Douchet.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Lopez drives through and clinches with Lillard against the cage.

Lopez gets a trip takedown into half guard.
Lopez seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Lopez misses with a head shot. Lillard uses the momentum to regain guard.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Lopez's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Lillard wants to get back to his feet but Lopez is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Lopez has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

Lopez uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Lillard.

Lopez closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Lillard quickly recovers to half guard.
Lopez wants to pass to mount but Lillard is defending the position.

Lopez thows a huge punch but Lillard dodges it nicely.

Lopez has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Lopez has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Lillard can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Lillard is pushing Lopez up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

Lopez tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Lopez has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Lillard is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Leeland Lillard has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Martez Lopez.

Lopez goes for a takedown attempt but Lillard pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Lillard throws a body punch but Lopez moves out of range.
Lopez tries to clinch up but Lillard circles away and keeps his distance.
A little feinted left hand from Lillard on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Lopez tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Lillard was well out of range. Poor timing from Lopez.
Lopez just misses with a punch to the body.
It appears Lillard was looking to counter with a kick there.

Lopez tries to clinch there but Lillard circles away.
Lillard throws a big counter combination but Lopez scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
Lillard tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Lopez paws at him with a jab and circles away.
A nice side step and Lopez releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.

Lopez looks for a takedown but Lillard sprawls well.
Lillard was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.

Lillard closes the distance and lands a one-two.

and Lillard counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Lillard connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Lopez looks to score with a jab to the body but Lillard is just out of range.
Lopez throws a wild hook but Lillard just manages to duck under it and - ooooh! Lopez gets nailed by a brutal uppercut which crumples him back against the cage! The referee jumps in - Lillard raises his hands in celebration and walks away!
