Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Violencia Rivas (ranked 1878 p4p, 223 weight class) and Julius Wolf (ranked 979 p4p, 123 weight class). Julius Wolf acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Violencia Rivas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Julius Wolf!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Steve Erwin and Francis DeMontford.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wolf shoots in looking for a takedown but Rivas manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Wolf's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Julius Wolf seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Sloppy strikes from Rivas. Those never looked like landing.
Rivas lands with a cross.
Wolf shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Rivas closes the distance and clinches.

Wolf has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Rivas regains guard immediately.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Wolf working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.
Wolf trying to control the position from guard on top but Rivas is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Wolf pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Rivas is keeping the position for now.
Wolf is working Rivas over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Rivas keeping full guard, as Wolf tries to pass.
Wolf wants to control from the top but Rivas keeps moving.
Wolf has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Wolf throws an elbow that misses. Rivas uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Wolf's guard. Nice move by Rivas!

Wolf seems keen to control Rivas's posture.

Wolf is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Rivas defends well.
Rivas throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Wolf works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Rivas knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Wolf on the ground.
Rivas sitting in guard, not really doing much.

Rivas got a little sloppy there for a moment and Wolf has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Rivas has managed to get both his arms back between Wolf's legs - danger averted.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Wolf has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Wolf has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Rivas doesn't defend quickly enough and Wolf has managed to lock this one up! Can Rivas escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Wolf on a fantastic submission victory.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:34 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Julius Wolf!
After the fight, Julius Wolf was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
