PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Hank Hammerson (ranked 5515 p4p, 0 weight class) and Demi Calhassan (ranked 6736 p4p, 0 weight class). Demi Calhassan told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Calhassan stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Calhassan wants it to stay on the feet.
Hammerson shoots in for a takedown but Calhassan shows good takedown defense.
Calhassan tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Hammerson manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Hammerson pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Hammerson pulls guard successfully.
Hammerson has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Hammerson had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Calhassan defends it easily.
Hammerson striking off his back but it's not causing Calhassan any problems.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Hammerson manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Calhassan manages to get himself to full guard.

Hammerson wants to control from the top but Calhassan keeps moving.
Calhassan wants to get back to his feet but Hammerson is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Calhassan is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Hammerson postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Hammerson is looking to work some ground and pound but Calhassan has wrist control.
Hammerson is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Calhassan has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Hammerson off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Hammerson throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Calhassan's waist but Calhassan gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Hammerson off to one side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Hank Hammerson. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Calhassan is looking to clinch.
Calhassan thuds his right hand into Hammerson's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.

It looks like Hank Hammerson has been cut.
Calhassan tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Hammerson manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Hammerson is looking for a counter combo.
Calhassan wants to clinch up but Hammerson keeps it at a distance.
Calhassan is throwing a storm of strikes! Right hook, left hook and follows it up with a spinning back fist! Hammerson hits the canvas like a rag doll! And just like that, this one is over!
