Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Darrick Suarez (ranked 5553 p4p, 0 weight class) and Raphael Firenzi (ranked 5500 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Darrick Suarez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Raphael Firenzi!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Robert Twigg and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Firenzi throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Suarez holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Firenzi is trying to break the clinch but Suarez is controlling him.

Suarez manages to break the clinch.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Firenzi enables Suarez to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Firenzi manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Firenzi looking to hit a scissor sweep but Suarez is one step ahead there.
Firenzi throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Suarez content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Suarez really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Firenzi looking to hit a scissor sweep but Suarez is one step ahead there.
Suarez postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Firenzi wants to get back to his feet but Suarez is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Firenzi keeping full guard, as Suarez tries to pass.

Suarez gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Firenzi.

Firenzi looking to score a takedown here. Suarez is defending well but Firenzi drives through and ends up in Suarez's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Suarez lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Firenzi wants to get back to his feet but Suarez passes into half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Firenzi is looking to control Suarez's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Firenzi avoid being mounted?
Firenzi gets full guard.
Firenzi lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Suarez keeping moving, preventing Firenzi from controlling successfully.
Suarez throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
Firenzi is looking to work some ground and pound but Suarez has wrist control.
Firenzi postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

Suarez looking for a sweep. Not yet Suarez, not yet.
Suarez will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Firenzi looking to sit in guard and control but Suarez gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Suarez trying to control but Firenzi is working from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Firenzi is looking to stand back up but Suarez counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Firenzi.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Suarez connects with a nice short shot to Firenzi's temple.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Suarez wants to work for an arm triangle but Firenzi is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
The fighters are battling for position here. Firenzi manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Suarez postures up.
Suarez scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Firenzi manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Suarez manages to get himself to full guard.


Firenzi stands and steps away. Suarez gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Firenzi gets the takedown into side control.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Firenzi is putting a hurting on Suarez here, landing some big shots from side control.
Firenzi lands a decent elbow from side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Darrick Suarez will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Firenzi throws an overhand right from the outside, which connects and sends Suarez stumbling backwards into the cage! Suarez bounces back off the cage towards Firenzi, who cracks him with a two punch combination that drops him to his knees! Firenzi lands two more shots before the referee has chance to intervene - what a finish! Firenzi celebrates with his corner as the crowd cheer loudly.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:05 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Raphael Firenzi!
Raphael Firenzi seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
