Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Donn Vargas (ranked 5503 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ichinagi Fusake (ranked 5500 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Donn Vargas! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ichinagi Fusake! The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Trevor Gratis and Gregory Folan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Fusake closes the distance and clinches. Fusake breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Fusake throws a hook but Vargas avoids it easily. Fusake gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Fusake wants a takedown but no success here.
Fusake's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Fusake shoots in for a takedown but Vargas shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Fusake slaps away a takedown attempt from Vargas, before circling back to the center of the mat. A clash of legs there as Vargas blocks the low kick. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. A head kick misses from Fusake. A counter left hand to the body from Vargas misses its target. Fusake shoots in looking for a takedown. Vargas tries to sprawl out of it but Fusake keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Vargas manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Donn Vargas has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ichinagi Fusake.
That's one minute gone in the round. Vargas throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Fusake's waist but Fusake gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Vargas off to one side. Vargas scores with a takedown into Fusake's guard. Vargas controls from within his opponent's guard. Fusake pulls Vargas in close to prevent any damage. Vargas scoring with some ground and pound. Fusake is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Fusake trying to keep a closed guard but Vargas is proving a slippery customer.
Fusake pulls Vargas in close to prevent any damage. Vargas is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Fusake darts in and clinches Vargas up against the cage.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Fusake breaks from the clinch.
Vargas has his takedown stuffed and Fusake counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Fusake pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Vargas looking to score a takedown here. Fusake is defending well but Vargas drives through and ends up in Fusake's guard. Fusake is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Vargas presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat. Vargas can't get the takedown.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Fusake tries to throw a body punch but Vargas avoids it by throwing Fusake back against the cage. Fusake breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Fusake pulls out of a head kick attempt.
The fight stays on the outside here - Fusake looks like he's thinking about clinching though. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. The fight moves into the clinch position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Ichinagi Fusake dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Fusake thumps Vargas with a low kick. Fusake dives in for a single leg takedown but Vargas sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. Vargas changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Fusake tries to avoid it but Vargas manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Fusake to the ground. Fusake escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Vargas feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Vargas sitting in guard, not really doing much. Vargas wants to control from the top but Fusake keeps moving. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Vargas slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Vargas trying to control but Fusake is working from the bottom. Donn Vargas overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Fusake controlling Vargas's posture. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Vargas sitting in guard here, content to control.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Vargas with a poor takedown and Fusake counters with a nice uppercut.
It looks like Donn Vargas has been cut. Fusake dives in and grabs Vargas's left leg, looking for a takedown. Vargas pushes down on Fusake's head and hops out. Fusake just manages to avoid a counter high kick fromVargas. Fusake fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Donn Vargas has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ichinagi Fusake. Vargas doesn't succeed with the takedown and Fusake counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Fusake. Vargas drops down looking for an ankle pick but Fusake pulls his leg out and moves away.

Fusake has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Fusake doesn't succeed with the takedown and Vargas counters by clinching up. Fusake pulls guard. Fusake is breathing heavily.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Vargas trying to control but Fusake is working from the bottom. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Fusake is pulling down on Vargas's head. It's preventing any offense from Vargas, at least for the moment. Vargas controlling from the top position. Vargas has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Vargas has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Ichinagi Fusake showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The cut man is working on Donn Vargas's cut. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! And we move into the final round!

And Fusake tries to counter it with a takedown but Vargas pushes his down on his head and steps out. Fusake misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Donn Vargas has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ichinagi Fusake. Fusake dives in and grabs Vargas's left leg, looking for a takedown. Vargas pushes down on Fusake's head and hops out. Vargas misses with a takedown attempt - Fusake sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Vargas tries to score a power double leg takedown but Fusake sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Vargas somewhat. Ichinagi Fusake seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
That's one minute gone in the round. Vargas shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Fusake as he avoids it easily. Vargas dives in and grabs Fusake's left leg, looking for a takedown. Fusake pushes down on Vargas's head and hops out. Fusake stuffs the takedown. Fusake with the counter takedown but Vargas avoids it easily. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Vargas blocks a head kick by Fusake.
Fusake closes this distance looking for a takedown but Vargas circles away. Vargas has his takedown stuffed and Fusake counters by moving into the clinch. A short left from Fusake. Vargas tries to score a body lock takedown but Fusake shows good agility there to stay on his feet. Fusake creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Vargas's defenses.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Fusake working some nice short punches in the clinch. Vargas slowing the pace effectively. Fusake is trying to drag Vargas to the mat but Vargas just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Fusake escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Fusake is defended easily by Vargas.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Fusake throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Fusake fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Fusake fails with the takedown. Fusake tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Vargas manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Fusake moves in looking to clinch but Vargas pushes him off. Vargas seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance. Vargas closes this distance looking for a takedown but Fusake circles away. Fusake changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Vargas doesn't succeed with the takedown and Fusake counters with a head kick. Fusake throws a sloppy head kick and Vargas moves out of range easily. Vargas with a lazy takedown attempt and Vargas takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Vargas misses with a takedown attempt - Fusake sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Vargas throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Fusake's waist but Fusake gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Vargas off to one side. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Fusake drives through and clinches with Vargas against the cage.
Fusake is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. Donn Vargas has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Ichinagi Fusake is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Vargas using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Fusake has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
And that's the end of the fight! Ichinagi Fusake comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I've got Fusake winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
