PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Silent Bob (ranked 23937 p4p, 604 weight class) and Craig Mack (ranked 23912 p4p, 645 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Silent Bob!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Craig Mack!
The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Shigeki Sano and Taro Takaoka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mack lands a nice looking kick to the body. Bob takes a step back to recover.
Mack lands a head kick!
Craig Mack seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Bob avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Good exchange - Mack coming out on top.
Mack tries to clinch up against the ropes, rushing in to close the distance. Bob manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
A little feinted left hand from Bob on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Mack keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Bob closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Mack quickly recovers to half guard.
Bob definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Mack wants to get back to full guard.
Mack is trying to stand.
Mack has his hands clasped together around Bob's back. He's all about the action.
Mack is trying to control but can't.

Bob performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
Bob seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Mack for as long as he can get away with.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Mack tries to close the distance and clinch but Bob swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Mack tries to work over Bob's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.

Bob lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.

Mack pushes Bob off and gets back to his feet.
Mack tries to close the distance and clinch up against the ropes but Bob paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Mack lands with a kick to the ribs.
Bob circles away from the clinch attempt.

Mack is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the ropes.
Good anti-grappling being displayed by Bob as Mack tries to tie him up.

Mack swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Bob jumps guard but Mack stands there with Bob around his waist. Bob gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Mack tries to land a knee to the head but Bob blocks with his arms.
Bob has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Mack is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Silent Bob. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Mack misses with a short punch on the inside.
Mack gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Bob.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Mack misses with an elbow over the top.
Mack is pushing Bob up against the ropes, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
A head punch on the inside from Mack fails to land.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
With the fighters clinched against the ropes, Mack creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Mack throws an elbow that misses.
Bob tries to work over Mack's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Mack wants to stall.
Mack wants to stall.

Mack with an attempt at a knee that misses.
Mack pushes off an throws an elbow but Bob leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the ropes.
Bob lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Mack or not.
Mack throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.

Bob manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

Bob wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Bob on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Bob tries to get out of the position.
Mack is looking to work some ground and pound but Bob has wrist control.

Mack throws an elbow that misses. Bob uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Mack's guard. Nice move by Bob!

Mack wants to sweep here but Bob controlling him for the moment.
Bob is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Mack fails in his attempt to clinch.
As Mack tries to get set, Bob tries to push him back and clinch up but Mack manages to avoid the attempt.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
The fight stays on the outside here - Mack looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Craig Mack dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the ring so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!


Mack bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Bob's head.
Mack wants to clinch.

Bob closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Mack to the mat! Mack manages to get full guard.
Mack is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Mack has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Mack wants to hit a switch here but Bob passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Mack there!

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Bob's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Bob has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Bob tries to push Mack's head away but Mack is holding on tight.
Silent Bob overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Mack tries to hold on but Bob postures up.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Mack tries to hold on but Bob postures up.

Mack is desperately trying to improve his position but Bob has a good base and remains in mount.

Bob is taking a breather. Mack says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Bob fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Bob's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!

Mack's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Bob shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Mack as he jumps to the side.
Mack looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.

Mack pushes Bob back against the ropes and lands a hook to the side of the head.

Mack's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Bob tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Mack manages to circle out of the way.

A nice right hand lands inside from Mack.

Mack wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Bob has him pressed against the ropes.

Bob gets control of Mack's arms and successfully pulls guard. Bob will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Mack tries to free his leg and advance position but Bob is retaining full guard.

I think Mack has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
