PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Azizi Camara (ranked 1713 p4p, 263 weight class) and Jack Number (ranked 1442 p4p, 225 weight class). Number has chosen This is A Film - Iggy Pop (Goran Bregovič) as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Azizi Camara!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 14 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jack Number!
The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Steve Montenegro and Russell Pearce.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Number throws a right hand that Camara ducks under and follows up with a left that Camara also avoids with ease.
Jack Number seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Number rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Camara moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Number misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Camara fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Camara shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Number as he avoids it easily.
Number swinging wildly here.
It looked like Camara was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Number will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Number stuffs the takedown.
Number drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Camara defends it well.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Azizi Camara. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Camara misses with a takedown attempt - Number sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Number fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Camara tries to counter with a takedown but Number is quick to defend against it.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Camara won't allow Number to sweep him here.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Camara is working Number over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Number utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Camara drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Camara jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Number is trying to control the position but Camara postures up.
Camara advances position into side control!

Camara is working to tighten his grip on Number's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Number has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Camara is really squeezing tight and eventually Number passes out! Camara breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:39 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Azizi Camara!
Azizi Camara spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
