Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Maximo Ruiz (ranked 7246 p4p, 0 weight class) and David Dedmon (ranked 5413 p4p, 0 weight class). David Dedmon has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Maximo Ruiz! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, David Dedmon! The judges for this bout are Darius Henderson, Winston Howard and Ben Hemmingworth.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ruiz shoots in and drives through. Dedmon sprawls well. Ruiz keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Dedmon closes the distance and clinches. Dedmon lands a right hand.
It looks like Maximo Ruiz has been cut. Dedmon is defending well against a takedown attempt. A right handed body shot lands from Dedmon.
Ruiz could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Dedmon jumps into guard, dragging Ruiz to the mat.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Ruiz postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Ruiz preventing the sweep. Ruiz stands up and waves to Dedmon to follow him.
That's one minute gone in the round. A momentary lapse in concentration from Ruiz enables Dedmon to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Ruiz manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Ruiz might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Dedmon won't allow Ruiz to sweep him here. Dedmon trying to control but Ruiz is working from the bottom. Dedmon looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Dedmon throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ruiz is pulling down on Dedmon's head. It's preventing any offense from Dedmon, at least for the moment. Dedmon tries to stand but Ruiz is controlling from the bottom. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Dedmon's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Dedmon wants to control from the top but Ruiz keeps moving. Dedmon is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Dedmon working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. A left and a right from Ruiz both land. Nice combination. Dedmon shoots in for a takedown but Ruiz shows good takedown defense. Ouch! a nice leg kick from Dedmon, right into the meat.
Ruiz gets caught napping as Dedmon dives in and scores a takedown. Ruiz manages to retain guard. Ruiz keeping moving, preventing Dedmon from controlling successfully. Dedmon might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Ruiz haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Ruiz can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Dedmon controls the pace. Ruiz has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. Dedmon sitting in guard here, content to control. Dedmon pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Ruiz is keeping the position for now. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Dedmon is stalling in the full guard.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
David Dedmon dominated that round. The cut man is working on Maximo Ruiz's cut. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Dedmon, right into the meat.
Dedmon connects with a solid leg kick. Dedmon tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Ruiz swivels and escapes. Dedmon defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Ruiz. Dedmon darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Dedmon is looking for a kimura but Ruiz is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Dedmon to get the leverage. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Ruiz is trying to stand.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Ruiz striking from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ruiz wants to get back to full guard. Ruiz looking for submissions off his back. Dedmon is trying to control the action in half guard but Ruiz is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Ruiz. Ruiz lands with a nice body kick.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Dedmon is trying hard to land a takedown here. Ruiz sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Dedmon throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Ruiz's waist but Ruiz gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Dedmon off to one side. Maximo Ruiz has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of David Dedmon. Dedmon with a lazy takedown attempt and Ruiz counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. Dedmon leaves Ruiz with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. And an attempted straight right on the counter from Dedmon! But no joy. Ruiz fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Dedmon is out of range. Dedmon throws a series of strikes that have Ruiz backpedaling.
Maximo Ruiz is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Ruiz dives in for a single leg takedown but Dedmon sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. David Dedmon seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Dedmon moves into the clinch successfully.
Dedmon has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Ruiz is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Ruiz tightens his grip and picks Dedmon up, before dumping him to the ground. Dedmon manages to land in guard. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Dedmon is trying to keep Ruiz in close.
Dedmon wants to improve his position but instead Ruiz has moved into half guard.
Dedmon controlling the position well. Dedmon really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ruiz. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Dedmon is trying to get back to full guard. Dedmon wants to control the action here but instead Ruiz manages to pass to full mount!

Ruiz is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Dedmon is surviving well by controlling Ruiz's body position as best he can. Ruiz controlling the pace for now. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Dedmon wants to hold on but Ruiz pushes him away. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that Maximo Ruiz will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Maximo Ruiz's cut. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Ruiz slows the pace down in half guard. Dedmon pushes Ruiz off looking to stand but Ruiz dives back in and keeps control.
Dedmon has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Ruiz is on him like a limpet, forcing Dedmon back against the cage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Dedmon can't get the takedown.
Dedmon has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Dedmon lands with a right to the head. Dedmon tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Ruiz wants a takedown.
Dedmon pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Dedmon manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Ruiz on his heels. He'll look to pass Ruiz's guard now, I'm sure. Dedmon wants to control from the top but Ruiz keeps moving. Dedmon takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Dedmon controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Ruiz manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Dedmon manages to get himself to full guard.
Ruiz is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Dedmon is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Dedmon has escaped and now he's on top! Dedmon wanted to stand there but Ruiz had control of the position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Dedmon connects with a couple of short punches. Dedmon is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Dedmon avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Dedmon trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
And that's the end of the fight! David Dedmon comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Dedmon has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
