Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Hugo Barker (ranked 5531 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gegard Mousasi (ranked 7308 p4p, 0 weight class). Gegard Mousasi has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Hugo Barker! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Gegard Mousasi! The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Paulo Santos and Emerson Jorge.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mousasi darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Barker kicks Mousasi off and gets back to his feet. Mousasi shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Barker makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Barker. Barker might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Barker manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Mousasi manages to get himself to full guard.

That's one minute gone in the round. Barker cracks Mousasi with a solid left hand. Barker could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Barker stops Mousasi from standing up. Barker has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Barker engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Mousasi is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Barker lands a couple of decent looking shots. Barker keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Mousasi's head. Barker controlling from the top position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Mousasi has momentary wrist control but Barker slips an elbow through the middle. Barker is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Barker working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Mousasi utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Barker is standing up over Mousasi. Mousasi looks to escape but Barker dives into side control.
Barker grinds an elbow into Mousasi's temple. Barker is putting a hurting on Mousasi here, landing some big shots from side control. Mousasi is trying to improve his position. Mousasi looks winded!
That's three minutes gone in the round. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Mousasi takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Mousasi is working to avoid the ground and pound but Barker connects with a decent elbow. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Barker cracks Mousasi with a big elbow. Barker working the ground and pound from side control. Barker working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Barker working the head with strikes.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Mousasi is trying to control Barker's posture but Barker avoids it. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Barker controlling the position. Barker is working Mousasi over with some ground and pound from side control. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Barker in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows. Mousasi is not in a great position here, taking some shots. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mousasi feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Barker wants to hit a switch here but Mousasi passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Barker there! Barker is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Mousasi can do to turn this around? Barker throwing hammer fists to the chest of Mousasi. What's that going to do exactly? Mousasi wants to control the action but instead Barker gets a body lock and reverses into Mousasi's guard! Nice work! Barker won't allow Mousasi to get back to his feet. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Barker connects with a couple of short punches. Mousasi is trying to control the position but Barker postures up. Mousasi is breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Barker drops back, looking for a kneebar! Mousasi looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Mousasi looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Mousasi! Mousasi throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Barker works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure. Barker trying to control but Mousasi postures up.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Barker moves into full guard.
Mousasi wants to stand but Barker is controlling his posture from full guard. Barker trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage. Barker striking off his back but it's not causing Mousasi any problems. Mousasi slips nicely into half guard. Barker is defending against the submission attempts here by Mousasi.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Barker wants to improve his position but Mousasi is controlling well.
Mousasi wants to pass to mount but Barker is defending the position. Mousasi stops Barker from getting back to his feet.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Mousasi decides to stand and escape the position. A momentary lapse in concentration from Barker enables Mousasi to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Barker manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Barker pushes Mousasi off and scrambles back to his feet.

A close second round but Gegard Mousasi will probably get the nod - 10:9. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

Barker is in close to Mousasi's body, working some short punches and elbows. Mousasi takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Barker makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Barker's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Barker taking a breather here. Barker looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Barker controlling the position. You can see the frustration on Mousasi's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Barker working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Barker looks up at the clock and then as Mousasi takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Barker smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

That's three minutes gone in the round. Barker tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Barker has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Barker working the head and body with strikes. Barker creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots. Barker cracks Mousasi with a big right hand but Mousasi just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Mousasi tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Barker wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Barker cracks Mousasi with a big right hand but Mousasi just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Barker creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots. Barker lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Mousasi down.
Hugo Barker overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Mousasi is rocked! Barker lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face. Mousasi is still in real trouble! Can Barker finish him? Barker working the ground and pound from side control. Barker looks up at the clock and then as Mousasi takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Barker smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Barker scores with a big shot from side control... and another... and another! Oh Mousasi is done here - save him referee! More strikes land and eventually the ref does step in and Barker can finally stop beating on his defenseless opponent!
