Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Waleed Dheeb! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jim Thomas! The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Eddie Farnsworth and Joseph Jones.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Thomas tries to close the distance and clinch up but Dheeb swats him away and circles back towards the center. Dheeb changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Thomas looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Thomas is trying to get back to half guard. Dheeb scores with a couple of short elbows. Thomas tries to improve position but can't. Dheeb wants to control but Thomas is keeping him busy. Dheeb scoring with punches and elbows.
Thomas is rocked! Dheeb lands a big left to the face of Thomas, bouncing his head like a basketball. Another shot from Dheeb and another - Thomas is out! Dheeb stands up and salutes his fans, who are going crazy in the stands.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Waleed Dheeb! A relieved looking Waleed Dheeb thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
