Mendez is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Angelito. Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Angelo Mendez enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 19 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Aedan Declan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Angelo Mendez!
The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Richard Clark and Colin Fotheringham.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Declan misses with a straight left.
We've been informed that Mendez has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.
Mendez on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Declan. Declan obviously looking to wear him down.
Declan dips to his left and cracks Mendez with an uppercut!
Declan lands with a shot to the body.

Declan decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Mendez is staying active underneath Declan, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Declan throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Mendez is looking to control Declan's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Mendez avoid being mounted?
Declan is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Declan connects with a nice short shot to Mendez's temple.
Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Declan throwing shots but Mendez is blocking nicely.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Mendez pushes Declan off and gets back to his feet.
Mendez throws a looping overhand right but Declan ducks down to avoid it.
Declan fires out a quick counter leg kick but Mendez just manages to avoid it.
Mendez defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Declan.
Mendez moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.


It looks like Aedan Declan has been cut.
Left hook, right uppercut from Mendez.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
A bone on bone clash there as Mendez blocks the leg kick.
Declan throws a head kick that misses
and Mendez connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Aedan Declan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Declan tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Mendez was well out of range. Poor timing from Declan.
Declan ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Mendez moves away.
Declan throws a leg kick but Mendez checks it.
Both fighters circle each other, looking for something big. Mendez moves in and throws an overhand right. That hurt Declan! Mendez continues to tee off on Declan, landing with a left and a right! Mendez connects with a right hand that leaves Declan sleeping against the cage! What a finish by Mendez!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:54 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Angelo Mendez!
Angelo Mendez really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that Urban Fighter logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
