Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Mike Righty (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vitor Belfort (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Vitor Belfort!
The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Daniel Cesar and Thiago Cunha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Righty rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Belfort moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Righty fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Belfort moves into the clinch.
Righty could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Belfort tries a knee to the head but Righty blocks it.

Belfort escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Belfort wants to clinch up but Righty keeps it at a distance.
Belfort wants to clinch.
Righty misses with a wild combination.
Righty misses with a low kick.
Belfort tries to clinch but Righty moves out of range.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Righty.

and Righty counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.

and Righty counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Righty pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.

Righty looks to score with a jab to the body but Belfort is just out of range.

Righty stalks Belfort and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Belfort's face. Belfort staggers backwards, shaken.
Righty throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Belfort.
Righty is breathing heavily.
Righty circles away from the clinch attempt

and Righty counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Belfort wants to stand but Righty is controlling the position.
Righty passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Belfort wants to get back to his feet.
Belfort is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.

Righty working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Righty jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Belfort manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Belfort is not content to let Righty control the position.

Righty works to advance to full mount. Belfort defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Righty tries to control but Belfort wriggling away.
Belfort is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Righty is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Belfort has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Belfort!

Righty had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Belfort is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Righty Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Belfort's back instead.

Belfort is looking to stand back up. He's having to work hard to escape but eventually he manages it.

Righty lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
The fight stays on the outside here - Belfort looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

and Righty decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Belfort's guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Righty lands a couple of elbows.
Belfort lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Righty!

Righty will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
