Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dan Parker (ranked 5406 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jimmy Gillespie (ranked 6563 p4p, 0 weight class). Gillespie has chosen You're The Best as his entrance music. Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Jimmy Gillespie enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Dan Parker!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jimmy Gillespie!
The judges for this bout are Ben Hemmingworth, Ron Honeybunn and Topper Green.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Parker tries to clinch up.

Gillespie tries to work over Parker's front leg with a kick but Parker checks it.
Gillespie's jab looks to have found its range, popping Parker under the eye.
Parker changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Gillespie tries to avoid it but Parker manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Gillespie to the ground. Gillespie escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Parker avoids a low kick by using good footwork.

Parker moves into the clinch successfully.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gillespie throws a combination. Parker tries to block but a couple of punches get through.

so Parker counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Gillespie wants to stand up but Parker is controlling him.

Gillespie has his foot on Parker's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Parker works his way back into a safe position though.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Parker stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Parker shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Parker fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Parker fakes the leg kick and cracks Gillespie in the body.
Gillespie looks winded!
Parker shoots in for a takedown but Gillespie shows good takedown defense.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dan Parker. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Parker tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Gillespie defends well and Parker ends up having to push Gillespie into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Gillespie leaves Parker with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Gillespie throws a right hand that Parker ducks under and follows up with a left that Parker also avoids with ease.

Parker is pushing Gillespie up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Gillespie tries to circle away but Parker has him pinned against the cage.
Gillespie looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Gillespie wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Parker is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.

Parker goes for a high kick. It partially lands.


It looks like Jimmy Gillespie has been cut.
Gillespie throws a shot from downtown. Parker moves away and avoids it.
Parker fails with an attempt to clinch.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Gillespie is looking to escape.
Parker seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Gillespie is staying active underneath Parker, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

That was a close round but I would say that Dan Parker will probably get the nod.

Parker lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Gillespie really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Parker. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Dan Parker overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Parker's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Gillespie misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Jimmy Gillespie showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Gillespie cracks Parker with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

Parker tries to clinch there but Gillespie circles away.
Gillespie looks to land a combination but Parker avoids it well.

Parker connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Gillespie. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

The crowd cheers as Gillespie lands an impressive looking overhand right. Parker doesn't seem phased though.

Oooooh!!! Parker has knocked Gillespie down with a huge combo! Parker steps away and waves a wobbly Gillespie back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!


Gillespie is rocked!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Parker closes the distance looking for a takedown. Parker picks Gillespie up and slams him brutally to the floor. Gillespie is out! He's out cold! Wow, you don't see a finish like that every day!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:59 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Slam). Dan Parker!
