Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Sammy Berggren (ranked 4869 p4p, 478 weight class) and Josh Alli (ranked 6917 p4p, 558 weight class). Berggren comes to the cage accompanied by Mozart - Lacrimosa. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Sammy Berggren!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Josh Alli!
The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Ren Mimura.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alli stuffs the takedown attempt from Berggren. Berggren gets slowly back to his feet.
Horrible takedown attempt by Berggren or perhaps it was just good defense by Alli, which made it look bad.

Alli gets a clinch.
Berggren has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Alli after a bit of a struggle.
Alli looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Alli pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Berggren has been working on his boxing with his coaches at whitey's gym in the buildup to the fight.

Alli breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Berggren feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Berggren's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Berggren pushes Alli off and scrambles back to his feet.
Berggren shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Alli as he jumps to the side.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Alli darts in looking for a takedown but Berggren gets double underhooks and turns Alli into the cage.
Berggren appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
Alli looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Berggren is fending him off so far but Alli persists. Nope, Berggren circles away and we're back to standing.

Alli has closed the distance and engaged Berggren in a clinch.
Still in the clinch, Alli scores with a nice short uppercut.

Alli escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Alli is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Alli lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.

Berggren on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Alli. Alli obviously looking to wear him down.

Alli must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Alli tries to stand but Berggren is controlling from the bottom.

Alli throws a right and a left that Berggren avoids nicely.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Alli slaps away a takedown attempt from Berggren, before circling back to the center of the mat.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Berggren crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Alli - the referee stops the clock and Berggren gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Alli. Berggren manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Alli thuds a left hand into Berggren's body.

Alli has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Berggren is proving hard to escape from.

Berggren uses the cage to get back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Josh Alli dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Berggren shoots in looking for a takedown. Alli tries to sprawl out of it but Berggren keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Alli manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Alli moves in looking to clinch but Berggren pushes him off.

Berggren scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.

Berggren looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Alli really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Berggren. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Alli can't do much from the bottom here.

Berggren is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Alli knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Berggren in side control, working for a kimura. He's got hold of an arm and he's torquing it... Alli is tapping! That's the end of the fight!
