Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, David Dukes! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Denislav Gabachev! The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Albert Achterberg and Nard Betker.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Dukes feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Gabachev's calf. Dukes is trying hard to land a takedown here. Gabachev sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Gabachev shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Dukes pinned against the cage. Dukes gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Gabachev is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Gabachev tries to clinch up but Dukes circles away and keeps his distance. Dukes closes the distance and pushes Gabachev back into the cage. Gabachev jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Dukes walks away with a smile on his face. Gabachev gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Gabachev. Dukes instigates a clinch. Gabachev avoiding damage as Dukes throws knees to the body.
Gabachev is looking to break free of the clinch but Dukes has double underhooks. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Gabachev wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Gabachev. Dukes breaks from the clinch.
Gabachev stuffs the takedown. Dukes moves into the clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dukes goes for a takedown in the clinch but Gabachev prevents it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for David Dukes. That's going to take a lot out of him. Dukes is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Gabachev is defending well for now. Dukes gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground. Gabachev utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Gabachev is adopting a defensive guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Gabachev can't keep his opponent in guard - Dukes advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Gabachev is trying to control but can't.
Dukes works his way into full mount! Gabachev is wriggling around here but as he tries to escape, Dukes has taken his back.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Dukes looking for the choke from the back. Dukes working for the choke. Dukes keeps control of the position as Gabachev tries to break free.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Gabachev is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Dukes gets his way!

Gabachev is trying to roll into a better position but Dukes has get a rear naked choke and Gabachev is forced to tap out! This one is allllll over!
