Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rafael Muniz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Felipe Brito!
The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Emerson Jorge and Mauricio Rocha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Muniz tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Brito looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!

Muniz darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Muniz content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Brito is in trouble now - Muniz has advanced to mount!

Muniz looking for a guillotine from mount but Brito is having none of it.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Brito is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Brito reaches up to try and control the position but Muniz seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Brito rolls and tries to escape and now Muniz has his back!
Muniz biding his time, looking for the opening.

Muniz working for a choke but Brito is defending well.

Muniz seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Brito for as long as he can get away with.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Rafael Muniz just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
Brito is looking to clinch.
Muniz shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Brito as he jumps to the side.

Muniz instigates a clinch.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Brito wants to break free but Muniz has control.
Muniz is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

Muniz gets a trip takedown into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Brito is trying to maintain the position but Muniz is very close to passing his half guard.

Muniz decides to return to a standing position.

Muniz fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Brito sprawls well initially but Muniz persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Muniz is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Brito!
Muniz pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Brito tries to reverse the position but Muniz maintains control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rafael Muniz dominated that round.
That's time! Muniz's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.



Muniz fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Brito, pushing him back against the cage.
Brito wants to stall.
Muniz prevents Brito from breaking the clinch.
Brito prevents the takedown attempt.
Muniz is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Brito pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Brito is trying to stall.

Muniz breaks the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A cross from Muniz lands.
Felipe Brito seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Muniz shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Muniz showed some decent athleticism there.
Brito is trying to maintain the position but Muniz is very close to passing his half guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Brito is trying to control but Muniz passes into side control!

Muniz tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Muniz has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Brito looking for a sweep but Muniz has passed into full mount! Oh no!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Brito is flailing around, obviously not happy about being mounted. Muniz locks hold of one of his arms and spins for an armbar. He's got it! Brito is forced to tap!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:28 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Rafael Muniz!
