Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Roman Divac (ranked 769 p4p, 106 weight class) and William Ralph Dean (ranked 1106 p4p, 153 weight class). Divac kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Nas- Do you hate me now. Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
14 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Roman Divac! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
11 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, William Ralph Dean! The judges for this bout are , Don Winkell and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Dean throws a lazy uppercut
and Divac counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Dean doesn't manage to clinch there - Divac circles away.
Dean ducks under a wild hook from Divac. Dean tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Divac manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. An attempted straight right counter from Divac misses the target. Dean is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Divac. Divac ducks under a wild hook from Dean. Nice shot lands for Dean. Dean lands a nice looking body shot.
Divac looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Dean looks to land a combination but Divac avoids it well. Dean throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Divac sees it coming and avoids it easily. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Dean connects with a single shot there. Divac bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Divac swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect. Dean fails in his attempt to clinch. Divac was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger. Dean forces Divac back against the cage and clinches.
That's one minute gone in the round. Divac wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Dean has him pressed against the cage. Divac breaks from the clinch.
Dean moves in looking to clinch but Divac pushes him off. Dean moves into the clinch successfully.
Dean swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Divac fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
A short body shot lands from Divac as the two fighters clinch.
Nice body punch from Divac. Dean lands a nice shot to the body. Dean tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Divac's elbow. Divac tries to throw a body punch but Dean avoids it by throwing Divac back against the cage. A short right hand to the side of the head by Divac. Dean lands a shoulder strike. Dean swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Divac throws a punch but it's blocked by Dean. Divac breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Dean keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Dean tries to clinch but Divac is having none of it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Nice straight punches there by Dean. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Dean. Dean takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Divac drops Dean with a nice combination! Divac dives into Dean's guard, looking to finish!
Dean is rocked!
It looks like William Ralph Dean has been cut. Divac is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Dean is still in real trouble! Can Divac finish him? Dean pulls Divac in close to his closed guard and prevents Divac from doing any damage or advancing position. Divac loads up on a big left hand. Dean felt that one! He's just covering up now, not defending himself intelligently - Divac looks towards the ref and unloads with 3 more big shots and the ref has no choice but to stop the fight! Dean can't hide his disappointment, as Divac celebrates the victory.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:40 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Roman Divac! Our winner, Roman Divac, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
