Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Fiyero Lermontov! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Killian Armstrong! The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, John Mangel and Eliza Hachem.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A jab from Armstrong does it's job there. A looping hook to the body misses from Armstrong. Lermontov does a little dance to reset his feet. Lermontov works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance. Armstrong throws a big shot that misses. The fighters circle momentarily. Armstrong darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch. That kick from Lermontov tenderised Armstrong's leg. Armstrong is trying to keep his angry face on. Lermontov scores with a head kick. Armstrong tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time. Armstrong throws a big shot that misses. Armstrong on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere. Lermontov keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Lermontov takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. A slow jab from Lermontov misses its intended target. Lermontov throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Lermontov staying out of range there. Armstrong misses with a looping right. Armstrong throws a jab but it's blocked by Lermontov. Lermontov wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch. Armstrong misses with a wild body shot. Lermontov moves out of range as Armstrong strikes. Armstrong obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range. Armstrong cracks Lermontov with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.

Armstrong stuns Lermontov with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range. Lermontov gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. A nice right hand lands inside from Lermontov. Lermontov misses with a hook from the clinch. Armstrong blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
An uppercut to the body lands inside from Lermontov. Armstrong lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Lermontov backwards. Armstrong scores with an uppercut up the middle. Lermontov jumps guard but Armstrong turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing. A quick uppercut on the inside from Armstrong. Lermontov lands with a short head shot on the inside. Armstrong tries to throw a body punch but Lermontov avoids it by throwing Armstrong back against the cage. Armstrong misses with the head strike.
Lermontov throws a punch but it's blocked by Armstrong. Armstrong can't find room to land a body shot as Lermontov controls the action.

Lermontov has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Armstrong uses from the top position. Lermontov is looking for a triangle but Armstrong pushes his legs off easily.
Armstrong controls from within his opponent's guard. Lermontov had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Armstrong defends it easily.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Lermontov working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Armstrong doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Armstrong manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Armstrong controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Lermontov pulls Armstrong in close to prevent any damage. Armstrong not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Armstrong wants to control from the top but Lermontov keeps moving.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Lermontov is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Lermontov is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Armstrong is aware though and is defending well. Lermontov has his foot on Armstrong's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Armstrong works his way back into a safe position though. Lermontov looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Armstrong is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Lermontov has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Armstrong can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Lermontov looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Fiyero Lermontov will probably get the nod. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!
Lermontov swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Armstrong counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Armstrong lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Lermontov circles away quickly and effectively. Lermontov throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Armstrong keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Lermontov. Lermontov walks into a left hand. Lermontov fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Armstrong on the side of the head. Lermontov avoids the body shot from Armstrong.
Lermontov swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Armstrong is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Lermontov with a body shot. Armstrong lands the left hand. Armstrong throws a hook to the side of Lermontov's head but Lermontov sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. A shot to the liver by Lermontov. Beautiful body shot. Lermontov is looking light on his feet compared to last time was saw him fight. Lermontov needs to keep his hands up - Armstrong had a free shot at his head there.

A nice right hand lands inside from Armstrong. Nice body punch from Lermontov. Fiyero Lermontov has scored more points in the clinch so far. A short uppercut from Lermontov. Armstrong misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Armstrong lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards. Lermontov fails to land with a short punch on the inside.

Armstrong working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely. Lermontov jumps guard and drags Armstrong to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. Armstrong tries to free his leg and advance position but Lermontov is retaining full guard. Armstrong must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Lermontov throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Armstrong got a little sloppy there for a moment and Lermontov has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Armstrong has managed to get both his arms back between Lermontov's legs - danger averted.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Armstrong wants to control from the top but Lermontov keeps moving. Armstrong is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Lermontov has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Armstrong is looking to defend but Lermontov has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Armstrong! Lermontov pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Armstrong taps out and this one is all over!
