Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
14 - 10 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Boss Yonic!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
15 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Alexander Porto!
The judges for this bout are , Jack Bonds and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Yonic keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Porto.
Boss Yonic seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Yonic ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Yonic takes a swing at Porto's ribcage but misses.
Porto is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch.
Porto misses with a hook
and Yonic counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Yonic shoots in looking for a takedown. Porto tries to sprawl out of it but Yonic keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Porto manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Yonic blocks a jab.
Yonic just misses with a punch to the body.
Yonic misses the body punch
enabling Porto to counter with a crisp jab.
Yonic bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Yonic ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Porto throws a lazy right hand but Yonic sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Porto misses with an uppercut
and Yonic counters with a takedown into side control.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Check out the look on Yonic's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
Yonic lands a decent elbow from side control.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Yonic cracks Porto with a big right hand but Porto just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Porto is looking for a sweep.
Yonic moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
Yonic tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Yonic grinds an elbow into Porto's temple.
Yonic has an Americana. Porto didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Yonic is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Yonic hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Boss Yonic!
Boss Yonic gave a mention to Sportivité in his post fight interview. That will please them (and hopefully generate some sales).
