Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jacob Mathis (ranked 5423 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chacha McPupu (ranked 5405 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jacob Mathis! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Chacha McPupu! The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Ben Zyskovitsi and Marco Blurström.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! McPupu dives in and scores a takedown into Mathis's guard. McPupu content to stall in guard here. Mathis is trying to hold McPupu in close to prevent damage but McPupu has managed to pass into half guard.
McPupu takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. McPupu lands strikes from half guard. Mathis could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. McPupu trying to control the pace. McPupu looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Mathis with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Mathis on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Mathis is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of McPupu's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take McPupu's back! I really don't envy McPupu right now.
Mathis is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. McPupu defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.
That's one minute gone in the round. I really don't envy McPupu right now.
McPupu wants to get back to his feet. Mathis not allowing McPupu to control his hands. You can see the frustration on McPupu's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
Mathis is looking for a rear naked choke here but McPupu reverses the position brilliantly into Mathis's guard!
Mathis can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as McPupu controls the pace. McPupu scoring with punches to the head and body.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mathis is trying to control the position but McPupu postures up. Mathis is looking to stand back up but McPupu counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Mathis. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. McPupu stops Mathis from getting back to his feet.
McPupu takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Mathis is looking for a sweep. McPupu is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. McPupu slips a nice elbow through Mathis's hands, connecting with Mathis's forehead. McPupu perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Mathis desperately trying to maintain half guard. McPupu has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Mathis pushes McPupu off and gets back to his feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. McPupu shoots in and drives through. Mathis sprawls well. Mathis with a lazy takedown attempt and McPupu counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by McPupu. McPupu pressing his opponent against the cage. Mathis tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Mathis is breathing heavily. McPupu dodges an elbow strike from Mathis.
Mathis manages to pull guard.
McPupu drops back looking for a leg! Mathis is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Mathis manages to kick McPupu off! McPupu jumps back into Mathis's guard. McPupu controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
That's four minutes gone in the round. McPupu stops Mathis from standing up. McPupu with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. McPupu stands up from Mathis's guard - McPupu perhaps looking for a knockout. Mathis gets caught napping as McPupu dives in and scores a takedown. Mathis manages to retain guard. McPupu controls the pace of the fight for a moment. It looks like McPupu might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Chacha McPupu dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
McPupu closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Mathis is looking to get back to his feet here but McPupu is keeping cool and he's managed to take Mathis's back. McPupu biding his time, controlling Mathis. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Mathis just trying to survive but McPupu is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish. Mathis is looking to stand back up. He's having to work hard to escape but eventually he manages it. McPupu shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Mathis sprawls well. Mathis wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. McPupu gets slowly back to his feet. Mathis throws a big counter combination but McPupu scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage. Chacha McPupu seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
That's one minute gone in the round. McPupu throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Mathis's waist but Mathis gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing McPupu off to one side. Mathis appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body. Mathis stuffs the takedown attempt from McPupu. McPupu gets slowly back to his feet. Jacob Mathis has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Chacha McPupu. McPupu stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and McPupu wants it to stay on the feet. Mathis will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Mathis shoots in and drives through. McPupu sprawls well.
That's two minutes gone in the round. No luck with that takedown attempt from Mathis. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Mathis fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but McPupu avoids it really well and circles away. McPupu moves into the clinch. McPupu decides to pull guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mathis loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. McPupu bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Mathis's guard. McPupu sitting in guard, not really doing much. McPupu advances to half guard. McPupu not doing much here.
McPupu tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Mathis. Mathis looks like he's trying to stand up.
That's four minutes gone in the round. McPupu moves nicely into side control. McPupu tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. McPupu scores with a couple of short elbows. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. McPupu stands up and we're back to a striking position. McPupu gets a takedown into half guard. Mathis has one foot on McPupu's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Chacha McPupu showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!
McPupu looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Well, if McPupu is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
McPupu looks to score some points with some ground and pound. McPupu is controlling the pace.

Mathis tries to hold on but McPupu pushes him away. Mathis in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head. McPupu is trying to stand up but he's being controlled by his opponent. McPupu has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Mathis is trying to escape the mount.
That's two minutes gone in the round. McPupu controlling from the full mount. Mathis regains half guard. Mathis tries to get to full guard but McPupu has control of the leg. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Mathis is trying to defend against the ground and pound but McPupu scores with a couple of nice shots. Mathis wants to get back to his feet. McPupu is looking to advance position but Mathis won't allow it. McPupu stops Mathis from getting back to his feet.
McPupu passes to full mount!
That's three minutes gone in the round. McPupu putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound! Mathis in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head. McPupu controlling the position easily from mount. McPupu has control of Mathis's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Mathis regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Mathis takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position. McPupu controlling his opponent.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Mathis's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up. McPupu is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Mathis can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
McPupu tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Mathis is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.
And that's the end of the fight! Chacha McPupu comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well McPupu has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
