The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A low kick from Butane misses
enabling Monteiro to counter with a crisp jab.
It looks like Hulk Butane has been cut.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Monteiro uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Butane.
Monteiro has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Butane is landing a low percentage of strikes.
Monteiro throws a jab but it's blocked by Butane.
Butane thows a left - swing and a miss!
Butane misses with an uppercut.
Butane takes a swing at Monteiro's ribcage but misses.
It seemed like Monteiro was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Monteiro throws a jab when Butane was well out of range.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Butane misses with a low kick as Monteiro jumps back.
Monteiro cracks Butane with an uppercut from hell and Butane crumples to the canvas, he's out! Oh no, he's recovered and he's grabbed one of Monteiro's legs and pulled him into guard. The ref thought about stopping it there but he's let it go - good reffing!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Butane working a defensive guard but Monteiro manages to pass into side control anyway.
That's one minute gone in the round.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Monteiro decides to stand up, so the ref orders Butane to his feet.
and Monteiro counters with a massive uppercut that badly hurts Butane! He's just covering up as Monteiro starts to tee off till the referee steps in and stops the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:18 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Tony Monteiro!
