Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kevin Shinnie (ranked 3047 p4p, 149 weight class) and Aki Hiko (ranked 1827 p4p, 216 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kevin Shinnie!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Aki Hiko!
The judges for this bout are Fedor Mirinova, Valeri Chadov and Konstantin Menshow.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Donk. Hiko catches Shinnie right on the button with a cross.
Hiko connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
A looping hook to the body misses from Shinnie. Hiko does a little dance to reset his feet.
Shinnie with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Hiko to score with a decent uppercut.
Shinnie takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Hiko pivots, looking for a leg kick but Shinnie is out of range and Hiko settles back down.
Hiko misses the shot to the body.
Hiko misses with a straight right.
Shinnie lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Hiko circles away quickly and effectively.
A nice leg kick lands there from Shinnie.
Shinnie misses with a two punch combination.
Hiko digs a good body shot into Shinnie's ribs.
Hiko misses with the combination.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

A telegraphed right hand from Shinnie misses the target.

Hiko throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Shinnie has been working on his boxing with his coaches at 3Band MMA ($700/week) in the buildup to the fight.
Kevin Shinnie is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Shinnie walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Shinnie avoids the body shot from Hiko.
Hiko has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
Hiko takes a swing at Shinnie's ribcage but misses.
Shinnie throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
Shinnie throws a lazy uppercut
and Hiko cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Hiko scores with a shot to the body.
Hiko has been working his punching technique in the buildup to the fight and it appears to be paying off.
Shinnie throws a body shot but no joy.
Hiko drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Shinnie defends it well.
Kevin Shinnie seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hiko slips a straight right by Shinnie.
Hiko wants to slow Shinnie down by chopping away at his legs.
Shinnie connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Hiko is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.
Hiko bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Shinnie's head backwards.
Shinnie scores with a jab.


It looks like Aki Hiko has been cut.
Sloppy strikes from Hiko. Those never looked like landing.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Shinnie lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Hiko jabs Shinnie right on the nose. Shinnie blinks but takes it well.
Shinnie's jab looks to have found its range, popping Hiko under the eye.
A looping hook to the body misses from Hiko. Shinnie does a little dance to reset his feet.
Shinnie misses with the combination.
Hiko staying out of range there.
Hiko drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Shinnie defends it well.
Nice body punch from Shinnie.
Shinnie avoids the head kick by Hiko.
Shinnie thuds a left hand into Hiko's body.
Shinnie dips to his left and cracks Hiko with an uppercut!
Hiko dives in for a single leg takedown but Shinnie sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Hiko is looking to land body kicks.
Hiko connects with a body shot.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Shinnie takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
A jab lands there for Shinnie.


That has opened up Aki Hiko's cut even more.
Shinnie lands a jab to the nose.
Hiko avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Hiko takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Shinnie misses with a looping right.
Hiko lands a jab to the head.
Hiko looks to score with a jab to the body but Shinnie is just out of range.
Shinnie connects with a superb combination that knocks Hiko out cold! The referee charges across the mat and tackles Shinnie before he can land any more shots to the unconscious Hiko!
