Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of

1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Bobby Smesher! The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Ian Loll and Yves DeLean.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Smesher misses with a takedown and Knowles counters with an inside leg kick. Smesher dives in for a single leg takedown but Knowles sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. Knowles tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Smesher manages to circle out of the way. Smesher shoots in for a takedown but Knowles shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Peter Knowles has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bobby Smesher. Smesher misses with a takedown and Knowles counters by clinching up. Knowles holding his opponent close, against the cage.
Smesher is working for takedown but Knowles is calmly controlling the position for now. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Knowles drags the fight down to the ground.
Knowles looking to hit a scissor sweep but Smesher is one step ahead there. Knowles will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Smesher stays in close to Knowles's body and controls the position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Smesher sitting in guard here, content to control. Knowles trying to strike off his back.
Smesher looking to control the position here, rather than advance. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Smesher advances position into side control!
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Knowles tries to buck Smesher off but Smesher is having none of it. Smesher tries to advance to mount but Knowles denies him. Knowles wants to control but Smesher postures up. Knowles is being controlled here. Smesher looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. You can see the frustration on Knowles's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Smesher wants to control but Knowles is keeping him busy.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Smesher controls the position. Knowles tries to buck Smesher off but Smesher is having none of it. Smesher has knee on belly and moves into mount. Knowles wants to get back to his feet.

Smesher content just to control the position here. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Smesher cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

That's four minutes gone in the round. Smesher sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Knowles tries to hold on but Smesher postures up. Smesher tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Knowles wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Knowles sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though. Smesher is controlling the pace.
Let's hope that Smesher has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Smesher tries for a takedown but Knowles sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Knowles stuffs the takedown. Knowles seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance. Knowles throws a front kick that sends Smesher stumbling back into the cage. Smesher fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Peter Knowles has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bobby Smesher. Smesher shoots in but no luck this time. Knowles throws a quick counter kick to the body but Smesher avoids it. A solid body kick from Knowles. Smesher gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Knowles counters with a shoot takedown. Smesher fights it but they end up in guard. Smesher is breathing heavily. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Smesher wants to sweep but no luck. Knowles controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Smesher is refusing to be controlled, as Knowles sits in half guard. Knowles is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Knowles really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Smesher looking for submissions off his back.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Knowles takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Smesher is trying to control but can't.
Smesher manages to get to full guard.
Smesher is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Smesher is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Knowles seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Smesher shoots in looking for a takedown but Knowles manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Smesher's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Knowles ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. Knowles tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Smesher defends well and Knowles ends up having to push Smesher into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. Knowles fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Knowles connects with an inside leg kick.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Smesher throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Knowles's waist but Knowles gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Smesher off to one side. Knowles shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Smesher as he jumps to the side. Smesher looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Knowles is fending him off so far but Smesher persists. Nope, Knowles circles away and we're back to standing. Smesher misses with a double jab

Peter Knowles dominated that second round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!
Smesher shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Knowles defends it nicely. Smesher doesn't succeed with the takedown and Knowles counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Knowles lands a nice leg kick that just misses Smesher's sensitive parts. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Smesher is defended easily by Knowles. Peter Knowles has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bobby Smesher. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Knowles is taking a breather. Smesher says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Knowles's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Smesher tries to get to full guard but Knowles has control of the leg.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Smesher shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Knowles as he jumps to the side. Knowles shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Knowles was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Smesher bucks up and tries to throw Knowles off but instead Knowles has got his back!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Smesher tries to roll but Knowles sticks to his back.
Knowles has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Smesher's body.
Knowles controlling well, preventing Smesher from escaping the position.
Peter Knowles overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Knowles has good solid back control here. You can see the frustration on Smesher's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
