2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Bill Kelly! The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, Colin Fotheringham and James Atkins.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kelly fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Kelley sprawls well initially but Kelly persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Kelly not doing much here.
Kelley throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Kelley has his hands clasped together around Kelly's back. He's all about the action. Kelly looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kelley has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Kelly is working away from the top position though. Kelley could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Kelly frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Let's see whether that pays dividends! Kelly swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Kelley is now in Kelly's guard. A big mistake from Kelly there, giving up the dominant position! Kelley gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Kelley stands up over his opponent, looking to dive in with a big punch. Here he comes, superman style! Oh, the punch misses and Kelly has got him in a triangle choke for good measure! Oh no! Kelley manages to get his head free but now Kelly has transitioned to an armbar! Kelley grimaces and is forced to tap! Beautiful Jiu Jitsu from Kelly! I'd be surprised if that didn't end up as submission of the night!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:32 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Bill Kelly! Bill Kelly decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
