Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Greg Trevino (ranked 7109 p4p, 0 weight class) and Grim Reaper (ranked 4387 p4p, 165 weight class). Grim Reaper will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Grim Reaper!
The judges for this bout are Topper Green, Chris Dean and Ben Hemmingworth.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Trevino lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Trevino misses with a hook.
Reaper tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
A quick step to the side and Trevino tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.
Trevino fails to land the takedown.
Trevino shoots in but Reaper avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Trevino looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Reaper is fending him off so far but Trevino persists. Nope, Reaper circles away and we're back to standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Greg Trevino. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Reaper throws out a powerful jab.
Reaper rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Trevino moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Reaper throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Trevino shoots in and bounces Reaper off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Trevino is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

As Trevino backs off Reaper throws a huge counter combo but Trevino manages to avoid it all.

Reaper closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Trevino kicks off Reaper and gets to his feet.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Trevino shoots in for a takedown but Reaper shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Trevino shoots in looking for a takedown but Reaper manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Trevino's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Grim Reaper seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Reaper misses with a double jab.
Reaper stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Reaper wants it to stay on the feet.

Trevino changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Reaper looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Trevino tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Trevino has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Trevino has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Reaper misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Trevino manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Reaper on his heels. He'll look to pass Reaper's guard now, I'm sure.

Reaper is working an open guard so Trevino takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Reaper misses with a two punch combination.
Trevino shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Reaper defends it nicely.
Trevino shoots in looking for a takedown. Reaper tries to sprawl out of it but Trevino keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Reaper manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Trevino takes a head kick and keeps coming.

Trevino shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Reaper manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Reaper is looking to stand up but Trevino isn't so interested in that idea.

A close round but Grim Reaper will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Reaper works over Trevino's head and body with a nice combination.
Trevino tries to score a power double leg takedown but Reaper sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Trevino somewhat.
Reaper stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Grim Reaper seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Greg Trevino is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Trevino throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Reaper tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Trevino is in Reaper's guard.

Trevino seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Reaper for as long as he can get away with.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Reaper. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

Trevino dives in for a single leg takedown but Reaper sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Trevino's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Reaper displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Trevino.
Trevino tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Reaper defends well and Trevino ends up having to push Reaper into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Trevino dives in and grabs Reaper's left leg, looking for a takedown. Reaper pushes down on Trevino's head and hops out.

Reaper closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Trevino did well to prevent Reaper getting side control.
Reaper is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Grim Reaper showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!



Reaper shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Greg Trevino overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Trevino has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Trevino might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Reaper won't allow Trevino to sweep him here.
Reaper is fighting to break Trevino's control of his arms but Trevino is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Trevino.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Greg Trevino.
I think Reaper has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
