Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Daryl Henderson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, John Pierre! The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Elvis Blanc and Robert Douchet.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Henderson closes the distance but Pierre moves to the side and Pierre counters with a nice body shot. Henderson gets caught flat footed, as Pierre shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Pierre is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Henderson controls Pierre momentarily but Pierre frees himself. Henderson is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Pierre's corner is telling him to maintain position. Henderson is trying to control the position but Pierre postures up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pierre sitting in guard, not really doing much. Henderson might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Pierre closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Henderson quickly recovers to half guard. Henderson really is built like a bowling ball. I wonder if he'd roll if you pushed him down a hill... Pierre content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Pierre working the head and body with strikes. Henderson really is a fat lump. Pierre wants to get back to his feet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Pierre stalling.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Pierre passes to full mount! Pierre controlling his opponent. Henderson tries to hold on but Pierre postures up. Pierre sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Pierre lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.

John Pierre dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Henderson tries to clinch up. Pierre closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Henderson to the mat! Henderson manages to get full guard. Pierre is stalling in the full guard. Let's hope that Pierre has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. Henderson escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Pierre gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Pierre content to stall in guard here. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Henderson wants to sweep here but Pierre controlling him for the moment.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pierre scoring with some ground and pound. Henderson has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Pierre has passed into side control.
Pierre controls the position. Pierre's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Pierre is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. More stalling from Pierre.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Pierre shoots in and gets a takedown into Henderson's guard. Pierre not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Pierre wants to get up but he can't break Henderson's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Pierre postures up and lands a big shot to Henderson's brow. Pierre showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Pierre postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Pierre seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Pierre rushes Henderson and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Henderson misses with a hook to the ribs.
Henderson is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Pierre is defending well. Henderson is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. Pierre has Henderson pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Pierre pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Henderson tumbling to the mat - Pierre dives into Henderson's guard. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Pierre seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
John Pierre showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!
Pierre bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Henderson is letting Pierre control him for a moment. Pierre working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Pierre takes a little break here. Henderson wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
That's one minute gone in the round. Henderson takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better. A lull in the action here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Pierre tries to stand but Henderson is controlling his head.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Henderson tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Pierre gets the takedown into side control. Henderson tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck. Pierre controlling from mount. Both fighters are breathing heavily.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Pierre is continuing to stall.

And that's the end of the fight! John Pierre comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Pierre has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
